Nice catch Dave, thanks for the heads up  I am changing out the Deadzone in mine as well.

The JB was actually designed around a 250k pot and I personally prefer it with thr 250k. The 59 however sounds like ass with a 250k pot IMHO.
With that said, its cool that you were able to get a tone that you like just by changing the pots!!

Oh yeah, please tell me that you aced that fugly knob that it comes with :hys:

Good call! Mine is in the shop right now getting shielded, a new bridge pickup, a new knob, and a new CTS pot. Stock pots never stay in my guitars.

I am surprised they would put 250k pots in that guitar (dual humbucker as I remember from the pictures)

I am curious what new knob you chose...

Really? 250k pots? That's not right. I'd change them to 500k's as well.

Just some useless information. My old 83 charvel came stock with a 250k pot so methinks that they are really paying attention to the details lol :D

Yep the JB was designed around 250-300k pots.

I don't mean to hijack, but does anyone know what pots Les Pauls (from the 2000's) come with? I have a JB and a 59 in my LP and I can't check my guitar at the moment.

Should be 500k long-shaft pots.

They SHOULD be 500K long shafts, but are more than likely 300Ks. That's why many Les Paul lovers are buying these kits with the 'correct' wiring and pots in them. It's like taking a blanket off your guitar.

So they *are* putting 250Ks in the Charvels - I wondered about that, since (as has been mentioned) that was the "original" spec. (As much as anything was back then...)
