New cheap guitar day.

I recently found myself in need of a 7-string again. I have had 4 of them over the years, my first one (a ‘99 RG7420) was stolen and I never bonded with any of the others so they all got sold. I figured with that track record it’s probably not wise to spend a ton of money on another one so I set out to find something cheap yet still decent enough quality to be enjoyable to play.

I ended up with this Fujigen-built Ibanez AX7521 from ‘99. I guess most 7-string guys don’t like these because of the Gibson-style scale length and control layout but my main guitar is an SG so it’s right up my alley. My last 7 was an Indonesian-built Ibanez Iron Label RGIR27E, it always felt cheap to me and never sounded that great compared to my other guitars. The AX7521 is on a totally different level quality-wise. The neck feels great and it came upgraded with a Seymour Duncan Black Winter and Jazz Rails so it sounds killer.

So far it seems like this one might be a keeper.
