New Custom Axes

[Beyond Black]

My buddy Dale from Doo Custom Guitars custom built these for me. I received the Bich about 5 months ago, and the Warlock about 2 months ago, and I’m finally posting them. They’re both killers and have become my #1 and #2. Every guitar he builds is completely handmade and custom from the ground up. You pick the wood with him, and he’ll build whatever your imagination can conjure up. Coolest guy in the world and 100% passionate about building. We go back 30+ years and were bandmates from ‘89-‘92. He’s currently building #3 for me, and that won’t be the last one. These two far exceeded my expectations.

The Bich is oversized to go with my 6”4” frame. We extended the ends, and kept it thin in the middle to give it a more sinister look. Black Limba body, Wenge top, Rosewood fretboard, 25” scale and weighs under 7 lbs. MCP Afwayu and a SD ‘59. Plays beautifully and sounds massive. The wenge had a wicked grain pattern, but the Tung oil darkened it to the point where it’s not as visible. Neither of us saw that coming. Still looks killer thou.

The Warlock is also Black Limba with a padauk top, and ebony detail between them. Fretboard is rosewood with padauk binding and luminlays, 25” scale. WCR Ironman and Bacchus (N), Kahler trem.

Thank you all! As you can see, I’m a fan of the old BC Rich guitars! Something about building totally custom inspires me to build wild shit. I actually went with him and picked out my own wood, and he kept me in the loop for the whole process. Makes for a real fun experience. He’s currently building me a Flying V with a mahogany body/neck, ebony top, and purpleheart details. It’s gonna be killer. Here’s some pics of a build he did for my buddy Bob. Bob picked out a piece of padauk that was like a 6’ surfboard, with some wild and unusual markings. He had Dale sandwich the body with the most figured parts of the plank. Very unusual, wild looking guitar that plays and sounds incredible. Extremely resonant, and rings like a bell.
