Posted this on HCAF too but I figured you guys might dig it as well.
My grandfarther owned this old western/ranger style belt buckle made in 1939 and together with my Dad decided to have it made itnto a guitar strap for my birthday. They found James Shelton at http://www.guitstripsguitarstraps.com/portfolio.html
James makes everything by hand and I can honestly say I'm impressed. It's as much of a piece of art as it is a strap. Couldn't be happier!
Black leather witha diamondback rattlesnake top, double stitching on the sides, and texas star conchos:
Close up of the buckle (silver with gold filigree and ruby's nacka!
)
Here's the cool part, I want to use this with both electric and acoustic, so the piece of leather you see clipped on is what my straplock goes onto. He's making another leather piece to clip on with a tie off attached to wrap around my acoustics headstock:
Here's how it looks on with my billy bo:
Close up of it on:
I can't help but think how cool this strap would look with a black LP! :evil:
Obviously it's pretty western/texan so I know it's not for everybody, but you guys should check out his website, he can make anything and you can choose any kind of exotic skin or tooled leather (which I also want). The strap was $400 but that was because of the rattle snake and labor intensive style of stitching. Most of his stuff ranges between $150 - $300.
