I’ve designed a brand new mid scoop feature never heard before that users can choose as a switchable option.
Most people modify the tonestack such as what’s in the SLO and 5150 to scoop the mids. The problem with doing this is that you also change the bass response while shifting the ratio of the lows and mids relative to the highs. This gives weird frequency responses with the tonestack knobs to my ears at the expense of tight percussive bass response as well.
This new design exclusive to Radiotron Engineering uses phase cancellation to target around 700Hz to scoop the mids all without touching the amplitudes of any other frequencies. The taper is natural which means you get a DEEP mid scoop that’s never been seen before.
You get the option to tune the depth of the V as well. Here’s a video for example. Skip to the 3 minute mark if you don’t want to hear it dialed in gradually and want to hear it instantly.
I’m currently finalizing the installation in the prototype and once I have it completed I’ll update the website to reflect it as a new selectable option to purchase for anyone desired.
Any questions please feel free to reach out!
