Saw this over at the Petrucci forum. Devin fanboy here. I love his unique talent.

Hey Paige, wasn't this one of the songs Devin played at the Best Buy theater?

Is that Ziltoid at 3:24?  And, what the heck is going on in that video? :scared:

I was the one who posted it on the Petrucci forum and was planning on posting it on here too, but hadn't quite got around to it. :D

Here's how a poster on the hevydevy forum interpreted the meaning of the video, and then Devin's response:

You know, I am curious as to everyone's interpretations of the video. I think it could be taken a lot of different ways, but I took it as the heavy, "shadows of SYL" argument again. Dev jumps on this "crazy train" so to speak where he confronts the anger inherent in SYL and the person he was then. Now-Dev is singing clean, he's clean cut, wearing a suit, etc. SYL-era Dev, on the other hand, or perhaps we could call him Juular, is old and decrepit, still screaming hid head off, acting crazy, and tied to vices kind of embodied in the woman holding him on the leash. Juular is screaming, venting his aggression, and now-Dev barely raises an eyebrow to his antics. That part of him is insequential anymore so he simply ignores him, walks away, and let's Juular wallow in the past and in his anger, ultimately getting nowhere on the crazy train. Which I guess could be said the same of people who can't get past SYL.

Devin: yup, pretty much.

That dude is trippy but you have to admire his skill and approach to music. He has his own unique thing going on and he has pipes. (can apparently play a mean guitar too)

Yup...most definitely

I'm a new Devin fan. I got the addicted cd and I have deconstruction on the way.
A very unique writer and player and I really enjoy his music.

Very interesting video. Can't quite make out what's going on but, I like it

Definitely unusual.

Addicted is my least favorite album of his. He's got so many deeper albums like Ocean Machine, Terria, Ziltoid, Snychestra. But Addicted was his experiment with his more commercial side, Deconstruction is just insane chaos.

Love this song. Probably the most mellow song on Deconstruction. :D

Gotta love his goofy facial expressions.

Only thing the guy left out was that Ziltoid was driving the train :)

Devin's voice is one of my top 3 favs of all time, possibly #1. The story about him pushing so hard during a scream on "Sex & Religion" that he passed out.. included on that album in two parts.. and I love the "Jay Leno's Phone" story (mentioned here, for one). A true artist.

I was part of the crew that filmed the video - Devin is one of the best dudes in the world. A true preformer. I'm trying to get permission to post some behind the scenes photos and pictures.
