Sup Diezel guys :D :D :D

Well, finally, a Diezel Herbert is enroute to my location :D It is a 2009 model, thanks to bionicmark here on teh forums! Loaded with El34's.I am an amp geek (I know, hard to believe on rig talk!!  ) and have probably read everything there is to read online about the Herbie. Alittle breakdown of the Rig :D

Herbert will be ran in stereo with a VHT UL. The UL through a Deliverance 4x12, and the Herbert through a prototype Electrovoice cab (made by mojotone however) loaded with 4 EV 300 watt Black Label Society speakers....I know: It's going to be WAY over the top! :D

Just little tips and tricks about the herbert would be nice. The VHT is going to by my "dry" amp while the Herbert will be used with effects. I am a minimalist when it comes to effects, but like some delay/chorus for leads. All switching done with an RJM RG-16, still undecided on the MIDI board right now though.

What is everyones favorite tubes for the herbert? I, being a VHT FANATIC, love KT88's, and thought about putting 4 KT88's in, with 2 EL34's possibly? Just an idea I guess. Anyways, I just thought I'd share. How does the axe fx play with the herbert via the 4 cable method? Thanks guys! :D

I just wanna say congrats on the Herbert and welcome to the Diezel family!

Trust me and don't put KT88s in it. It tends to get Ice-picky with them. (I'll have EL34s soon)
Start with your channel volumes at noon and use your master volume to adjust to taste.
Start EQs around noon and adjust also.
Be conservative with the Mid-Cut. I don't even use mine in my current band. I could see using it a bit if i was doing a metal project.

Congrats on the Herbert!!

and yes....Bionicmark is a Super cool guy to deal with.

I had all 6L6's in my herbert and it sounded great. Leave that as an option. ;)

Hey mailman thanks! Actually the only time I ever played a herbert, it was loaded with all 6l6s and it sounded INSANE! Honestly I've never really been an el34 guy, however I really like el34s in the rectos. I just figured given the herberts voicing and bass heavyness, the el34s might help the herbert out a bit in the mix?? Who knows...all 6l6s is definitely my style though, however I don't hear about this combo much.

Can anyone tell me about the changes to the herbert over the years? Mostly, how mine is (if at all) different from earlier herberts? Sound differences etc?

Also speaking of tube swaps, exactly how do u do it? If mine has el34s, and I want 6l6s, or a combo of both, what do I need to do on the amp?

Mine was a 2009 as well. Yours should have the external Bias points in the back of the amp.
Not sure if you need to change anything inside the amp to take the new tubes. Do a search here...
I know its been discussed in the past. But either way....you wont go wrong with DIEZEL POWER!!

Congrats on purchasing the greatest high-gain amp EVER MADE!

Just don't overdo the mid cut in a band setting :)

 Herbert is by far the most versatile amp I have ever owned. The most brutal tones to the best cleans and everything in between. The midi capabilities make it so easy to run all your stomp boxes via rjm effects gizmo or voodoo lab gcx, or payne labs k switch. The midi communicates without any problem and is super easy to program. Voodoo lab ground control pro works great with my Herbert. No external power sources to power it up because the Herbert powers it up via phantom power which means a cleaner stage if you gig a lot. Tone is a super personal thing, so my only recommendation on tubes is trying them all and find the combination that fits your style of playing. That goes for pre amp tubes as well. Buying a Diezel is the best gear purchase I have made in my 25 years of playing and 13 years of touring. When it comes to gear, spoil yourself with the best and don't settle for anything less. DIEZEL IS KING!!!!!!!!!!!!
