You ever "discover" bands that have been around forever, but you just never connected with their music before? I tried to like Opeth over the years, but it just didn't take. But lately, I'm starting to really dig some of their stuff. I still don't care for the double-bass pedal cookie monster stuff, but the clean mellow stuff and tight prog metal stuff I'm really grooving on these days. Have been listening to "Cusp of Eternity" over and over this morning. What a kickass tune. I won't say that it's not a bit derivative of other harmonic minor flavored metal that came before it (Rainbow "Gates of Babylon", Yngwie, etc)... but I care not. Love it!

i love opeth. he is funny live.

He does seem to be funny for sure. I first started thinking that I might actually like them a couple of months ago after watching some Download Festival footage from 2017. The bits that I'd heard before that were all cookie monster shit... which is an instant turn off for me. But I'm finding that there's enough musicality in there the more I listen, to look past the gargling.

I've discovered lots of new music that I really like on Spotify

I should get on there. I've been just playing a bunch of stuff on Amazon Prime. That kick started out with me listening to the newest Ghost album. I dig much of that one too.
