Hey Guys,

I bought a Marshall 1987x Splawn Modded Marshall head today on ebay from a gentleman in Alabama.

https://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... TQ:US:1123

So I pay this guy same day via Pay Pal with no issues. I get a email from him complaining that my Pay Pal payment is on hold for 21 days and it is my fault and "sorry" but he wont sell the amp to me and wait for MY funds to clear.

I reply nicely but with WTF! I paid as I always do, money from my pay pal account balance and it should have no issues.

He is not helpful on his end. I call Pay Pal and they explain to me they have a new (2 months old) policy for low feedback sellers that they must ship the item and I must get it before they (Ebay/PayPal) will release the funds.

Of course I call this guy and try to tell them it is on his end and he tells me tuff luck, no money from pay pal no amp being shipped. He didn't want to hear that it was on his end and quite frankly I don't really blame him but I did everything I was supposed to do. So now I am out $1400 and this fellow is not shipping anything and the chase is on to get my money refunded.

Just thought I would make you guys aware if it hasnt happened to you yet . I am sure I will get my $$$ back eventually but I wanted the amp and not the drama. oh well, just a heads up...

WTF???I better read up before any more deals!!!That sounds really fucked!!

Wow, that sucks. How many feedbacks is considered a low amount?

No idea? I am told I have no issues, but I am a power seller with over 740 positives but this dude has 47 positives with 100% feedback which to me seems like enough. The Pay Pal guy was pretty vauge as to how they decided which sellers get the "21 Day" treatment.

Brad

That sucks, but can't you just get your money back and send the guy a money order. The Seller should be able to refund your payment.

I have heard of this before now, but its usually the person with the low feedback rating complaining. I think Paypal found another way to hold money to get more interest :gethim:

Sellers who have been selling on the site for at least 6 months and have a minimum feedback score of 100 would not be affected unless their Buyer Dissatisfaction Rate for the last 30 days becomes greater than 5 percent.

Stupid fing Ebay

eBay SUCKS! and thats coming from a supposed "Gold Powerseller", I hate that place!

Brad

It's basically turned into a monopoly for online auctions. It's getting to be more and more of a joke.

That totally sucks. I've got way less than 100 feedbacks even though I've sold things over several years. Oh well, I guess no more ebay for me...

Happened to me when I sold my Metro Plexi. Except I shipped it, bitched about it a lot, and got the funds a week later when the buyer left positive feedback.

And with that, they leave more room for a competitor to come in and exploit the opening.

Brad, that FUCKING SUCKS. That's one more reason to blow off eBay and paypal altogether.

File a paypal dispute and get your money back. I can sorta sympathize with the guy since the new rules about holding the funds are bullshit, but he can't blow off a buyer just because he wasn't aware of how things worked. Paypal will totally side with you since he has no delivery confirmation #

That sucks. What happens if the guy doesn't leave any feedback? I sold a Randall RG80ES a few months back, and according to tracking the guy recieved it, but then he dissappeared. He didn't leave any feedback, wouldn't respond to any emails  I already had the money so it was alright, just weird. What if that happened now?

Hopefuly another online auction does come around and give ebay some competition. I know the last 2 times I chose local pickup only. I told the guys to pay me when we met for pickup. We avoided paypal fees, but e-bay still got their cut. This obviously will not work for some guys that live in smaller populated areas. Thanks for the heads up.
