I love it! Picked up a 2X12 Tourmaster cab at GC yesterday while I was in Austin. Great sounding cab. My Paul sounds more Pual like, my Strat is more Straty. BUT ... I went take the speakers out (sorry I just HAVE to, I'm a tweaker) and what a surprise. Built like a brick shit house as we have all come to expect from Egnater gear. No way to pull the speakers for a swap on these. Well I guess you could pull all the screws out of the four back panels, then all the screws out of the left and right side handles so you can get to the screws that hold the front speaker baffle and take that off and then you could do a speaker swap. PITA!!!

Nice cab thought, fortunately I love 80 watt Celestions.

Here's a pic of the bracing system, holy cow.

Tommy, turn the speakers flat and they come out,I've done it to both of mine.

Same here Tommy. Unscrew them, and they will fit in the middle section if you have them flat. I've replaced the speakers 5-6 times that way, and it's not too difficult. The speaker will fit...with just a bit of space in between.

Hey Tommy, I opened mine up too to look inside. The 212x is built much beefier than the Rebel 112x. Makes sense, as it should be more roadworthy and tough. The one thing I found strange is that the two pieces that connect the rear of the cab to the baffle have some strange looking gouges in the wood. It's just cosmetic I think, but I was a bit concerned. The gouges look like little canals. Sort of like the ones you see in wood that has termites.

But wait! Don't you all get alarmed now. I just said they look like that. I know termites and guitar cabinets never sound good in the same sentence. I simply said the little gouges look like that, but there are no termites!

I'll try and post some pics later. I don't feel like taking the thing apart again right now.

So you got the speaker out through the center hole? The one where the metal vent is positioned?

Man I didn't think I was that inept at manipulating things when it comes to physics. I'm guessing you had to stand the speaker horizontal to the exit plane, while pushing one end of the speaker through the front hole/grill cloth end to line it up that way. I was thinking about just cutting the bracket, but I hate to do that.

Yeah you can get it through that hole. Basically it needs to be perpendicular to the ground if the cab in flat on the ground like your pics to get through. I wouldn't cut the bracket. All of the strength in the back would be compromised for the back metal plate and middle wooden plate.

Okay, cool Eric. I'll give it another go tomorrow when I get home from work.

Thanks!!!

glad you are liking that combo. i'd love to see egnater make that the standard! Such a killer combo in that cab for sure!!!!

Eric what ru running in ur eggie 4x12s? I just want them for my wet stereo sound or I will use the 2x12 sor stereo and the 4x12 for the mod50. Should I go with lower wattage speakers for the 4x12?

What do you guys think of combining the CL80 with a C90?

C90? is that the Mesa boogie combo speaker? If it is I think it is toooooooooooooooooo bright. I have tried my MC90 Black shadow speaker with it and didnt like it.

C90: Yeah, that's the one. I have 2 of those lying around. Thought I'd give one a try.

I've never been much of a fan of any of the mesa speakers....but that's me.

What I look to do when mixing speakers is to find speakers that complement each other. Not just use what I have lying around, even though I do that a lot too! Like the CL80 has really good low mids and mid mids...very punchy...and the T75 has good lows, and highs...with a subdued midrange. The CL80 / T75 fit really well, broadening the sound spectrum a lot, making the cab really come to life!!!

Eric: Any phasing issues when combining speakers like that?

Not the CL80 / T75s no. I've tried a lot of combos...V30s / T75s sound good together too! (if you like V30s ;)).

For my two cents the Boogie 90 is a great speaker. I did not find it to be all that much different than the CL80. They are in fact the same speaker basically, with some tweaks made for MB. I also agree with Eric though on the fact that when mixing speakers the main point is to achieve some sort of symbiotic vibe going. Mixing a CL80 with a Boogie 90 will not suck I don't think, but will not be that much different than two CL80's. They are too similar to achieve any sort of chemistry that might be interesting if that's what you are after. They cover too much the same ground. Never found teh Boogie 90 to be all that bright and I hate bright speakers. Used them for years.

Most definitely. Which is why guys who understand phase, like Bruce, will never make it a standard to use two different speakers in there cabs. Not gonna happen.

Stone, how much you pay? Apparently you can get em down to like 20% off with the Music123 deal.
