Some guys requested I put on a clip from the new ENGL INVADER 100 E642 model. I recorded this tonight, it's just two tracks with a drumtrack, no EQ'ing, no EFX nothing. I think it sounds pretty good, still not as good as the room sound. I recorded it with a simple Shure SM 57 and medium output DiMarzio PU's.

Oh it's channel 3 in the high gain mode with bright engaged.

Nice clip,it sounds like a more "normal" amount of top end so the amp must be pretty dark with the bright switch disengaged....but maybe I'm missing something.

Sounds good regardless :)

Thanx, yeah I like fairly bright sounds, without some volume and bright switch engaged it CAN sound pretty dark. However the voicing varies greatly on all 4 channels. It basically has 1 clean channel and 3 different high gain cahnnels which all go from crunch overdrive to all out heavy gain, pretty different concept from your normal 3 or 4 channel amp.

I haven't had a chance to listen to your clip, will do it tonight as I have no speakers at work...but I had a quick question for you. I will be trying out a few Engls later this month, the Invader being one of them. What has been your experience with this amp? Is it as versatile as advertised or is it really more of a metal amp? Does it do a nice warm chrunch? Thanks!

I think it's very versatile, it has THE nicest clean channel I have ever heard on a channel switcher, the clean channel does some killer crunch in the high gain mode. It has three high gain channels with very different characters and independent EQ's. It's as versatile as you can get. It's definately not a metal amp though it does metal really well, but the clip I recorded is pretty close to the max of it's gain reserves. This is the most ROCK amp ENGL has made since the Blackmore. Though I love it for metal too :D

That's what I wanted to hear! lol Although I do enjoy indulging in metal from time to time it's not my primary genre and definitely not what my band plays....thanks for the info! :D

thanx for listening man, I am loving the sheer balls of the INVADER
