...So, I played one of the new import EVH stripey guitars today and thought I'd share my thoughts.

- I played the candy striped model. The finish looked nice and was on both sides of the body. If I was going to get one, I'd get the bumblebee as I've always liked that iteration EVH guitar.. The red/white/black looked a little hokey.
- The D-Tuna was set up incorrectly. I don't know if the guitar had been restrung or it was like that from the factory.
- The neck was a joy to play on, as are all the EVH models (EBMM, EVH, PV).
- Gone are the SS frets. I don't understand why, as the regular wolfgang plays great with the SS frets and they should have been included on the striped axe.
- The Wolfgang humbucker is very hot!
- The body of the guitar is plain basswood and lacks the magical tone of the Basswood body/ maple cap of the wolfgang/ some Suhr's. To me, the tone was a little bland/ thick.
- The fit and finish was nice.
- Overall, It was a cool guitar, but if it were my money, I'd buy an ESP GL200 and have virtually the same guitar for $400 less.

i thought the same thing, noway they should be 900$ without a case, the dtuna was unusable

Good on both of you for being honest. I think they should be 650$.

The one I played came from the factory with the floyd resting on the body ed style. The only problem was, you couldn't pull out the d-tuna  The guy at the store had to set it up as floater but at that point the d-tuna was rendered useless...

I got to try one today. Basically agreed with all the consensus you guys posted.
I'll add some of my own:
Pros
1- Great neck, very comfortable for shred but thick enough for really dirty playing as well.
2- Great Wolfgang bridge pickup, thick with tons of note definition.
3- It looks cool, the body is a real nice Strat shape.

Cons
1- I'm not that fond of the Floyd style bridge
2- The D-tuna I tried worked, but totally knocked the low E-string out of tune when I set it back.
3- One bridge pickup guitars are pretty much useless to me. I'm a constant neck pickup player.
