I rarely buy a guitar without playing first....But could not resist. Guitar is shipping, should be arriving by Thursday. 2013 Les Paul Custom...Nickel Hardware. Anyone ever see / play one of these? The color hardware combination seems rare for this year (seller assured me it is 100% stock)....Maybe a limited run? Though and opinions welcome.

BTW: I intend on replacing the stock bridge (Burst Bucker) with either A. Duncan JB - B. Suhr Aldrich - C. Motor City Detroiter - D. Duncan Distortion....Opinions?

Hoping it's a solid guitar as I have not owned any post 2010 Gibsons yet.

Good kill. Faux gold hardware is an abomination that should never of caught on IMHO.

That's almost worse, rosewood on a custom?!

Terrible...I guess I will have to send it back. Thanks.

Beautiful guitar, I hope it plays as good as it looks.

Grats!!

I have 2 that have stock chrome hardware. Pickups aren't stock, but the stock pickups weren't covered either.

Leave the burstbuckers in there. I really liked them in the last LP I played. I bought a set in my 81' and they sound great.

Rock that hard .... love my Black Beauty.

Ebony, Rosewood, Richlite the difference is minimal.

Prefer the sweetness of Rosewood.

I have always had this thing for those black customs!
sweet les paul dude!
Thank god it does not have that fugly signature they are using this year!

2013 is going down as one of the best years for the Gibson Custom Shop where I believe yours was built. The rosewood boards were special dealer orders because they felt it was a better option than Richlite. Lots of excellent pickups out there. Try a Wolfetone Marshalhead in the bridge.

This is GOOD news....I just spoke with a guy this morning who said the same thing regarding the 2013 "special order" customs. Hope it's true. Thanks man...I will check into the Wolftone. THANKS!

Thanks man. I recently acquired a Black Gibson Midtown Custom with stock Bursts....I have to say, I'm not in love with them yet. I know that the BBs have a lot of fans. They seem a bit thin and brittle in the top end....With a mid character that is a bit "nasal". Definitely thinking of swapping them out in that guitar...But I may love them in the LP Custom, will give them a shot.

Nice! I always liked the chrome hardware on a black LP custom. In fact, I have a 95 custom that I swapped all of the gold hardware off with the chrome. I'm not big on the burstbuckers as well. I had them in a Les Paul Axcess, but found them to be a little bit lackluster, at least for what I do. My customs currently have duncan distortions in them, but I've also had Suhr Aldrich pickups in them as well with great results.

Thanks! Duncan or Aldrich...Witch do you prefer in the LPs, and why?
