Here's the latest BluesJamTracks clip featuring Guthrie:

Interesting how the cab is mic'd at the end. Typically nice playing and tone from the Guthman as usual. That's the Classic model with V60LP pickups and the SSC System that Guthrie's had for around 3 years now.

In the words of Forest Gump, "thats all I gotta say bout' thaat."

Thanks for the post Ed.

That just became one of my favorite Guthrie Clips. That just rocked

he is just unreal. i'd imagine he'd be able to play that exact demo on an acoustic with such clean technique.
does it seem like his tone is getting a taste wetter...in a very good way???

Hey, you tone connoisseur and snob, you sure got that right!

Yeah, his tone is getting better every time I see him. We just did a GIT clinic with him last month and he plugged his new GG Signature Modern straight into the Cornford Hellcat and he sounded amazing - the best I've heard him to date and he even agreed that the tone was "really happening." Well, I've been getting him into Landau the last few years - got him a copy of the 2006 Live album as well. We even went to see him live at the Baked Potato. Guthrie's tone is indeed getting wetter, slinkier, and richer while still maintaining that clarity and definition he needs for his fast runs. He's just getting better and better in all phases of his playing, as difficult to comprehend as that may be...

this makes me happy :)

ps-i'm looking forward to running sound for Neil...i'll try to make sure the media guys grab some clear shots of him and maybe try to get a DVD of it too just for fun...i think he was gonna try and ask you important suhr guys if he could take a demo badger out for the weekend ;)

god he is amazing. i hope i am 1/3 of his ability when im his age. he is the only guitarist who i have heard who's only limitation is the extent of his imagination. there is nothing he would want to play that he couldn't. for what its worth, he was a huge inspiration for finally getting around to do an all instrumental solo record. Guthrie is the real deal!

Very well said Andy! You are a very refreshing talent yourself.

What is that thing he puts where a locking nut would be?

It's to dampen string noise at the nut...

It's a hair band that Guthrie pulls up in front of the nut when doing 8-finger tapping kinds of stuff.
