Hi,

I am new to this forum but some of you may recognize my username from other guitar forums. I am also known as "AK47" on the JCFonline.

I wanted to show you guys pics of my rig I am working on and maybe you guys can help or give me suggestions.

First thing I would like to mention I do not have a pedal board but will get one made shortly. Second thing is I need help getting all this wired and the Ground Control Pro programmed. I am in the SF Bay Area so if anyone knows of a place that does rigs like this please let me know so I can get it completed.

I would like to point out the 20 space Racks are A&S cases which were custom made using ideas I wanted to see in a rack, Jim at A&S was able to take my ideas and apply them to real life. As you can see there is a plexi door to prevent people from bumping my knobs or messing with the presets. Second thing was the front and rear rails are adjustable so I can change how deep I want the recess.

Info with the intro here are pics of my Guitar and bass rig.

You're gonna be a God around here...

Do you ever gig with this stuff? You need how many friends/bandmates to put that in your trunk?

Not practicle it is for my home studio I am currently putting together.

If I do a gig I take a 4x12 and triaxis and a poweramp or a Mesa Dual recto head with some pedals. If I do a bass gig I use the SVT2 and a 8x10.

very nice man !! Plexi door reminds me of wine cellar, great idea

Awesome

Dave Friedman/Rack Systems Ltd. is in N. Hollywood. He'd probably be your best bet. Also a member here, RACKSYSTEMS is his name.

Whats the lint roller for?????

Awesome rig and welcome to the forum!

Looks great.
But
I would also be concerned with overheating with the lack of ventilation while the plexi is closed.

Nice. Good to see ADA well represented. My once extensive collection (3 MP-1s, 3 MP-2s, 1 MQ-1, 4 2x12 splitstacks, B200S, full bass rig,..) is down to my last MP-2 with noise mods that isn't going anywhere.

When you gig, do you pull components out of these racks, or do you have another set for travelin'?

How do you incorporate your SansAmp into the bass rig? What do you use it for primarily?

I'd say you are among the apex predators of the huge racks here (Zachman, RareGuitar, ...) who can provide more info / ideas on their setups. I'm downsizing my rigs, but if I was doing large rigs today for home, studio, gigs, anything, it would be going to Dave Friedman at Rack Systems and I'm on the East Coast. What I've seen and heard of his work is absolutely the best.

Bet the lights in the neighborhood dim when you switch these behemoths on!

I don't know much about rack gear, but with that plexiglass front limiting airflow won't that gear get really hot? Or do you leave the doors open when in use? RnRBaby beat me to it.

Nice Makita! ;)

Cool to see the MP-1...it's still my favorite pre when paired up with a BBE Sonic Maximizer and tube power (2:90 in my case). It actually earned its way back into my rack and sent my original Fish packing

Sweet, wicked, and again, sweet! Who makes those cases? I'm putting something like that together now, but for gigging, and need to figure out my case. Welcome to the forum!

any pics of the back? i bet it's a nightmare back there...
but who cares right?!!

that's some nice stuff man....what's the estimated value of the guitar rack? 10k?

We looked into this problem before the cases were made. A&S had done a similar setup with a ISO-studio rack they had and the engineer had stated there is minimal heat leakage from the front of the rack mounted amps. Having a rear rail also also me to mount fans as needed but I usualy will run one preamp with a poweramp or two.

I am familiar with a few places that can really set this rig up correctly but I dont really want to send it down to Southern California if I dont have to but Dave Friedman is who it would go to. I know there was a few places here in Northern California that did work like this but I have had no luck getting in touch with anyone. Lots of music related business have left this area.

I want to be able to walk into the shop and tell them how I like the setup and tryout the Ground control before I take everything home.

In case anyone was wondering in the future for gigging I plan on buying a Ampeg CL head to use for the bass.

As for the guitar side I plan on buying:

Diezel VH4
Diezel VH4 Blueface
Mesa MkIIC+ with all the options head

I would use a cab and a VH4 for any future gigging so I dont have to pull anything out of the rack ever. I had a dual recto head but sold it a while ago I would use for that purpose.

My Rackmount recto I will be replacing with a older one with a serial loop there was one on Ebay just recently and I got out bid at the last second.

As for my guitars well thats going to have to be a whole new thread, I will get some pics up shortly.
