Just got my mk2, if the mk1 is a 500 pound gorilla the mk2 is a 600 pound gorilla on steroids that's wearing a tux.
Speaking of weight, the mk2 is noticeably heaver when lifted, it weighs in at 61.6 pounds compared to my old mk1 of 55.2 pounds.. 6.4 pounds heavier? much more than the two pounds Peter mentioned?
I love the clean channel it has more sparkle and openness and in general the amp seems more alive and less compressed, but I was most surprised at the crushing deep bottom end compared to the mk1, if you can believe that!!
Also the tonal range of control on the Midcut seems greatly improved and gives you some added flexibility.
Not to take anything away from the mk1, which is great amp that I had for almost 6 years (that was recently retubed) , but the incremental improvements are well noted and greatly appreciated. Thanks Peter!
Well worth the upgrade IMHO.
