So, I've been lurking on this site for a couple years, just absorbing the information and finally decided to join. I've been playing for over 20 years now and always just had crappy to average equipment. With that said, I'm looking to upgrade some stuff and first off is a new cabinet. I play a 50 watt EL34 head (KT77's currently in it) and just sold off my Mesa Recto 2x12 cab. I just didn't like two V30's together and did not like the way it pushed the sound out directionally if that makes any sense. If I moved to the side of my cabinet, it was like I couldn't hear it.
I've been looking at the Avatar Vintage 212 and the Stone Age 212C as they are similar in design, but from reading all the posts on these cabs the Stone Age seems to get rave reviews. I guess I'm just looking for reassurance I'm doing the right thing going with the Stone Age as I always regret my gear purchases! By the way, this will be a gigging cabinet in small clubs playing hard rock and some punk covers such as Bad Religion and Pennywise. Advice and suggestions are welcome.
PS: Thanks for the great info from all you guys. James Lugo did a kick ass job with his amp fest videos...thanks!
