New high gain amps

I remember not long ago, it seemed like builders were coming out of the woodwork and pushing the boundaries of high gain.

Perhaps it is because I have stepped away for a bit due to being so busy at work, but it seems that reissuing old amps and coming out with new iterations of old amps is the flavor of the month.

I would still like to try a Larry amp, and would love to play the Abbadon @glpg80 is brewing.

But aside from those two, I feel like I have played everything worth playing and it doesnt feel good.
At the beginning of the journey, it was so exciting (and expensive) doing the buy to try ad nauseum, but now I dont ever think about buying amps, and i have my guitar so locked in right now, i have mainly just been writing songs when i make time to play.

Are there any amps I am missing out on playing or that are flying under the radar? If so, we need to get @RedB4Black to buy them so I can go try them

Time for you to step up and buy them so I can try for free!

Sounds like I need to fly out to TX with the prototype to put up against some stacks of the baddest Wizards around. Either it reigns king or I’m not content. I’m shaking concrete basement slabs with greenbacks and no boost so I’d be curious what it can do with real cabs.

You tried the all the custom stuff? Lickliter, Sloane, MGL Headfirst etc. All that is so pricey though.. speaking of there's that handwired Victory MK.

Idk its all modified Marshalls. I'd like to see a dedicated solid state like the amps of years past. Or we've got all this amp modeling going which is cool but why don't they try to make a new tone an analog amp can't do

My friend is the builder of Sloane amps . He makes killer amps at a decent price . I’d like his SLO based amp

I’m sure I could assemble quite a few amp geeks/potential customers who’d love to check it out! Unfortunately, we Texans don’t have basements….save the one at the Alamo! lol

MGL is my amp. Need to try the others on your list

Dude. You found your way out of the rabbit hole. Why dive back in?

I'm set on amps, and don't really care about what new releases with what new features come out next, or what reissues come out next. I'm mostly set on guitars, more than set on pedals and fx minus wanting a KMA Endgame sometime soon for silent playing and practice.

When I have time to play it's mostly low volume or headphones, and to be honest low volume only starts sounding really good once the neighbors can voice an opinion on how "low" it is. My headphone rig sounds alright, but still kinda direct using a Carvin X1 Preamp with pedals including a Pigtronix Echolution 2D on the tape setting for some ambiance. I'm hoping the Endgame will make the headphone tones much better between the true stereo operation, power amp emulation, expanded cab emulations/IR's, ability to dial in room size, and double tracking effect.

I also figure I can use my Mesa Powerhouse as a load for my amps, and feed the line out to the KMA for silent practice that if not 100% like the amp in the room, is a hell of a lot closer than what I got now.

I'd rather go with a modular approach than an integrated all in one feature packed amp. I particularly don't like the idea of having a bunch of digital gear inside a tube amp at all.

I am completely set. But I still like trying the new amps. It is a rabbithole, but not one I am afraid of. As far as silent guitar goes, I do have kids and a wife, so sometimes I play on the fortin cali suite and record it on reaper. It is useful as hell.

But there is nothing like playing at volume to make you feel alive

Would be a great time for sure. You’d get to play an amp that’s capable for the first time of automatically cutting low end playing high registers and boosting lows at low registers, automatically. No gimmicks, no channel switching features, no BS.

Come try my Larry . It slays and is a beauty . I too want to try @glpg80 new build . I think you should bring abandon over man !
