I'm sad that they didn't put a better camera in it or a possibility for video recording or multimedia-messaging. .
Why doesn't the iphone have multimedia messaging, It kinda defeats the purpose of having a camera on the phone? Does anyone know if this will be changing?

The iPhone, stock, does not have MMS because Apple feels email is superior. However, there are programs that allow you to do it, assuming your phone is Jailbroken. There are also programs that can allow you to have copy and paste.

I dont have a iphone, been thinking about getting one though. I dont really use email that much, and sending messages is usually much faster. If someone sends you a mms will you still receive it?

I REALLY want to get a 32 gig model. Hopefully they'll offer one before the end of the year.

Is the initial, new iPhone a 8 or 16GB model?

$199 for the 8GB, $299 for 16GB...no 32GB model as of yet.

Thanks.

My contract was up in March, and I have been holding out for the new iPhone. I wonder if there will be a similar craze like there was last year when the iPhone first released - people lining up outside the night before. July 11th is on a Friday, which means I'll be at work

Since I'm on Verizon, I'll probably wait for something like this when my phone is due for upgrading...

Wow, I wonder how blackberry users are going to react to no keyboard. I doubt they're going to like it. Then again, they have the option to go with the 9000 I suppose.

I thought about that but as long as the touch keys are bigger, I'm happy with it because my hands are too damn big to type fast on those tiny keys on most phones.

Well, that sounds better then. MMS' are friggin' important, IMO. It should be included in stock models though. Only if they put a new and better camera (~5Mpix) in it too with a possibility to record videos, then it would be great.

Assuming you've Jailbroken it and you installed the program, yes, you can send and receive MMS.

Sorry to burst everybodys bubble, but the new $199 price tag is the price WITH a new 2-year service contract. You have to buy one for activation at AT&T stores or the apple store. No more at home sim activation. Who knows what the price AT&t will sell them for without the contract, probobly still around $399 - $499. This means to purchase one without an phone upgrade or a new contract will be very difficult.

Yep. Before everyone gets excited read this.

Over 2 years the new phones are more expensive.

The relative expense compared to the increase in performance is negligible.

I just got off the phone with my wife and we decided that we're going to switch to AT&T. Verizon's service has gone down the tubes and is not worth the premium. And all of their phones suck.

We have the LG Voyager and love it. Plus, I'm using a Sprint right now on a Treo for work and i can easily say that Verizon blows Sprint away.

Most people still seem to rate Verizon as the #1 service.

I am curious about the 3G coverage. While 3G isn't offered in my EXACT city, I am about 25-30 miles south of Chicago and about 10 miles west of Joliet; both these cities provide 3G coverage. Will I receive any 3G reception? If so, how strong?

The vibrate on my phone is busted so it's pretty much a done deal that I will need a new phone... and that will most likely be an iPhone. I suppose I could wait for an android model but i know what I want.

I believe the iPhone will be Android compatible.

What town you in? I get 3G in St Charles, Aurora and Sugar Grove without issue.

Well, I was talking about waiting until Verizon got an Android phone. But like I said, I want an iPhone.

Orland Park area - Homer Glen is the actual town, but Orland is directly to our east.

LMFAO!!!! New iphone will cost 500-600€, when not buying it via teleoperator, depending which model one gets. I think I'll stick to Nokia N96 or E-series mobile phones instead and get the newest technology in them.

I've never had issues with 3G in the Orland/Tinley/Frankfurt/Mokena area. It was always there when I needed it...which admittedly isn't too terribly often.

Course, Homer Glen is a different story I'm sure.

Yea, I guess I'll just have to wait and see. I do work in Orland, though, so I will be spending quite a bit of time there :)

EDIT: Have you been through Lockport with it? The way I see it is that if it works in Orland and it works in Lockport, I would think it would work in Homer Glen, which is right between those towns. Maybe not, though...
