I just got a new job that is going to be awesome for my practice. I work 10 days a month about 3 to 5 hrs per day but I travel for those 10 days. Rest of the month is off. What I need is a travel guitar. I have never traveled with a guitar on a plane. Mostly they will be flying me Delta or American Airlines. I was looking at a steinberger SS2F. I have nowhere here to try one. I dont want anything thats very valuable that will make me feel like shooting myself if it gets broken. But I was thinking this would go in a overhead storage with a hard case. I was planning on just using my laptop with guitar rig and audiobox usb as well as my in ears. But what suggestions do you guys have for guitars while flying.

I bought my kid one of these and I play it more than he does. Once I got used to it I was ripping on it. I have traveled with it before on business trips.Cant beat the price.

One of those Carvin Headless Holdsworth models might work if you want a very high quality instrument- I heard they are very small in length- almost like a tennis racquet.

The carvin looks awesome. Wonder how big the case is. It fitting in the overhead would be fantastic.

Phil, I travel a lot with the Army, and every single overhead bin I've encountered, my steinbergers fit in. I have a few of the strat body ones (GM series, I think), they're all rock solid, take a beating, and sound pretty decent. You can find them on ebay for fairly good prices, the stock pickups are pretty decent too, although I've replaced mine in an incessant tone hunt.

The Fernandes Nomad is the ultimate travel guitar. I have had mine for about 5 years. I take it on planes and driving to vacations. It is full scale and has a built in speaker with a Digitech RP-100 processor. The drum machine is great for practicing.
