Hey Guys,

I am having a very well regarded web firm do a total ground up redo of the King Guitar website (http://www.kingguitar.com). These are guitar guys who also built the Wild West Guitars site. http://www.wildwestguitars.com

Our biggest problem has always been photography and keeping an updated site with all of our current gear on it. With the new site we should have a much more streamlined process and one input will populate, ebay, our site, reverb.com and all of our social media.

Would love to tap into the knowledge base around here and list what you guys like to see if a guitar shop website. Any ideas, suggestions or whatever? Any input is appreciated.

Thanks
Brad

Use a proofer
List your inventory and keep it up to date
Easy-to-find contact info
Easy navigation
No landing page
No music or automatic vids
Simple, clean, elegant design

That's really all you need.

I'm a copywriter and photographer. Hell, if I were local I'd offer my services. But I'm sure you can find good talent no problem. :)

A in stock list of new and used items organized by manufacturer as you mentioned I think would be the biggest plus. Even if you just use generic photos for some new in stock items you dont necessarily have to take pictures of everything. Its nice to see pictures of a new guitar for sale but amps prob not necessary . Used gear I would post pictures of every item. If you have items incoming its prob good to advertise those also, keep people on there toes ....lol

Personally i hate it when there is a list of guitar brands and after clicking on one of them i get the message "No products found". I understand that the list is used to show which brands are generally being sold. Imo this and the inventory should be separated somehow.

I agree. No music, no flash animation = keep it simple & test, test, test & test. Oh, and don't forget to test!
I would suggest making the site mobile/tablet friendly as most people use these devices nowadays. For example, the current drop-down menus on the website sometimes don't work well with mobile devices.
Good luck - let us know of you need some 'testers'
