also picked up new eric gales reckless and joe bonomassa/ black country "communion" ( rock supergroup comprising vocalist/bassist Glenn Hughes (Deep Purple Black Sabbath, Trapeze), drummer Jason Bonham (Led Zeppelin), Derek Sherinian (Dream Theater) and blues rock guitarist Joe Bonamassa)

EG record is pretty killer blues/tones...still warming up to black country

might be his best work yet...axe-fx??

Yep it's a good one. Unfortunately my wife has snapped it up, just like my last LB CD, and I'll probably never see it again lol!!

He gives Fractal a big nod in the liner notes, next time I see him I'll ask him if he can give me the low down on what he used. My guess is Fractal for 90%+ of the CD if not the entire thing.

The new Eric Gales CD is ridiculous!

He's a really good player. Truly awful lyrics and subject matter however.

always blows my mind when someone finds encouraging, positive, uplifting, heartfelt songs of praise to God in the Christian genre awful subject matter. lyrically it could be considered repetitive i suppose. there are only so many ways to say i love God, and i feel that way about worship songs we play at our church sometimes,

but comparatively, smashing out chugga chugga screamo about hate and pain is utter nonsense to me, with a dangerously negative influence on kids. i'd rather let a kid know someone loves them, than tell them the world is hopeless and they will die alone and in pain.

and going to an ozzfest would be akin to attending a dungeons and dragons convention for me.

lincoln can hang with the best of the shred brigade. herman li would collapse "dying cockroach" style if asked to play blues.

I think you might have me confused with somebody else, dude. I'm not into "chugga chugga screamo about hate and pain", I'm not into OzzFest type music and I'm not a Herman Li fan.

I agree with you that Brewster can probably hang with shredders and Herman Li couldn't play the blues to save his life. I simply don't agree with his subject matter. I'm not religious, so it means nothing to me and sounds cringeworthy. That said, I think he's a really good player as I said previously and I think he writes what would be really solid pop/rock songs if I could get around the Christianity aspect.

cool stuff Pat. I need to get the EG release. thanks for the heads up!

Most lyrics suck IMO. People just aren't very creative with words regardless of subject matter.

LB? I find it/him almost impossible to listen to. Just gutless and boring. Castrated.

wow.

had an old friend drop buy and leave me some really cool things. i played a quick gtr track for him today, so then he says he had these jewels in storage and just wanted someone to put them to good use for the Lord, ironically... :)

i hooked him into my tyler/carol ann OD2r with the wet out to the space echo/tech 21 and he almost started levitating.

Lincoln Brewster Rocks as does his lyrical content, it is positive and uplifting which some may not like, but a great alternative for those of us who do like a positive message. He is a tremendous player as is Norm his bassist. Norm rocked out the star spangled banner when they were here at our Church on bass and it was tremendous. They put on a great show!!

Thanks for posting this I did not know he had a new CD out yet.

here is another guy worth looking into.
people are more familiar with his brother phil but evan is super cool and a killer musician--this is probably my favorite song of his:

he played it the last time he came and i ran sound for him and was amazed! he normally plays piano but he obviously knows his way around a guitar too.

one last one--
the late great roby duke the last time he played at our church:

he dropped and cracked his avalon guitar right before he came out to our place, so i gave him some of that low adhesive blue masking tape to put on his guitar to deaden the buzz.

Roby was just an unbelievable muso he also was sweetheart of guy. He used to live up in the Pacific North Wet and we spent some time hanging plus I got him up and running with his Nuendo/Fireface set-up.

we used to hang out backstage and i loved watching him warm up with weird tunings and beautiful chord melodies.

he mentioned doing some extensive testing with DAWs to discover that protools was not the best bang for the buck, contrary to popular belief at the time. he helped create an international vocal sample library which proved very lucrative for him.
i believe he passed away tracking by himself in his studio. bummer.

He ever tell you about growing up a Southern Baptist Preacher's son?

LB is a great player! I remember seeing the videos where he used the Pod Live. Sounded great.

I`m not a religious person, but I agree about rather let kids hear some positive outlook on things, than negatives all the time.

The message is an honest and heartfelt one, but after reading some of the lyrics, I kinda miss....metaphores?

"O God above Your love has opened up my eyes
Now all I see is You all I see is You
O God above Your love has opened up my eyes
Now all I see is You all I see is You
With every breath I breathe I know it's true that"

"In You In You I find my peace
In You In You I find my strength
In You I live and move and breathe
Let everything I say and do
Be founded by my faith in You
I lift up holy hands and sing
Let the praises ring!"

Both are great pop/rock songs, and I can easily see them as "modern hymns", where the audience can sing along. (And if there`s one thing a lot of church audiences can, it`s sing along -in tune! :))

I kind of like "deeper" lyrics.. Where you can see there`s been some thinking behind the writing of the lyrics as well. And that they leave room for interpretation, even if the thought behind them are clear (worship)
