So I've been watching the NAMM 2025 videos & the new line of Marshall pedals being released, the 1959 Overdrive/Distortion pedal, caught my interest and I wonder, because the Artist 3203 was already in the JCM800 line, if I would be better off with the 1959 pedal for some versatility?
Mine is the one without the 'Pull EQ' switch on the tone control for the Boost channel & I've read without that I'm stuck with just the tone control for the Boost mode & it makes it impossible to get some of the best sounds, because you can't boost bass and treble at the same time, or cut mids and can't just add the switch as the PCB is different. I also have the matching 1965A 4x10 cab (stock Celestion speakers) and the head & cab have just been sitting unused for a long time too.
I have a couple of EQ pedals & a noise suppressor to try & use through the Artist 3203:
- Danelectro Fish N Chips 7-band EQ pedal
- MXR 6-Band EQ pedal (Black finish one; not Silver like the new one)
- Boss NS-2 Noise Suppressor Pedal
I'd like to be able to have a decent clean channel, even if it's a Marshally broken up kind of clean and a really good distorted tone for standard tuning & playing hard rock/classic rock/80's metal/hair metal.
