Screw those junk plastic handles on marshall 4x12 cabs. I came across some metal handles randomly on ebay and bought 'em to fix up one of my cabs. I later I found out they were direct from Scumback Speakers! The handles rock if you're sick of your plastic ones.

Check this thread out on TGP I did on the handles. Sorry it's kinda long.

Cheers!

I know, that's exactly where I've been buying them from. I'm up to 8 pairs and counting for my older m cabs. They're great!

Thanks!

Cool. FWIW, my Marshal cabs have close to 1,000 gigs on them and I still have the plastic handles.

Yeah I've had some last a really long time, and some others just rip right off in my hand LOL! Sometimes in the JCM800 cabs the handle tube in the middle busts loose and will spin around, or vibrate annoyingly in the handle cup. The new plastic seems even more brittle than the old.

After 1000 gigs I bet those 1960BV oem Vintage speakers are sounding pretty damned nice

Yeah, they sound killer, nice and broken in by now!  Got the cabs brand new in '99. I am actually astonished at how the plastic handles are still intact. I have not treated them with kid gloves at all. I am using Fryette cabs as my main gigging cabs now and they have awesome metal handles on them so no worries there.

Dave, I can tell you they are worth it compared to the metal handles from Marshall. Not only is the metal thicker, but the finish is better. Not to mention, they are a direct fit.

I've got 22 4x12s and thank God many of them already have metal handles, like my StoneAges and Bogners. I have 8 80's and 90's marshalls that had the plastic handles to retrofit, and I am doing the last two this week. Half of them had cracked or buzzing handles that were due to be replaced anyway, so it has been worth it.

It's not my fault, really...it's a medical condition called SVB-CAS. Speaker Variety Based Cabinet Aquisition Syndrome.

You're lucky!!!! I have a killer mid 70's Marshall where the plastic handles started spinning, buzzing ,etc like the guys mentioned on this thread. (I've had it since about 1984 or so) Before Engl came out with the Powerball /Savage,etc amps I had bought 1 of the 1st Engl 4x12's in the US and it had metal handles and I instantly loved them and bought a set for my Marshall and all my buzzing problems were over! Anyway , the plastic handles are just fine UNTIL they break , and then the cabinet almost becomes useless. My philosophy on gear though is don't fix what ain't broke, but if yours breaks, buy the metal ones! :)

Dude I have over 25 amps and don't really see myself stopping, and loads and loads of speakers. I bow to your SVBCAS!

22 cabs is nuts. How about a pic  :D

I have 8 70's cabs with plastic handles and none of them rattle :D

I don't have the staff, a big enough contiguous indoor area, or the wide angle lens needed to get em all in one frame LOL!!!

Do my snakeskin Randalls count even though they're mfd?

$60 is a steep price...IMHO. If they were $30 or $40 I would grab some. Before the price police get me remember I have 11 4x12's so $660 plus shipping is a lot

It's not uncommon for me to make a better price on the handles if you're buying more than one pair, you know.

11 cabs...that all you got? (Just kidding!) I had to move 32 cabs to empty the demo room to put the wall/ceiling covering on last week. Only four were unloaded. Granted only 24 of them were 4x12's, but when 20 of them are loaded...ugh...my body hurt that night...and the next day.

Dave, shoot me a call or email, we can work something out if you really want some.
