I got word from Jeff that my amp will be ready for shipment on Tuesday or Wednesday this week.

I've played nothing but Fuchs amps for almost ten years and I'm really excited about a change.

Modules ordered include T/D, Vman and SL2.

About modules ... I see names of modules that aren't on the Egnater list. Where are these coming from? I'm not real interested in a GnR modules but who is building a modifying modules? I'd like a list!

TIA

I'd recommend you go w/ the GNR vs the stock SL2. It's a Egnater modified SL2, which I personally think should become the stock SL2. IMHO it's in ever way better, and more of that Marshall growl I would expect.

Egnater will do custom modules, of which the GnR is one (developed for aeroic). Others include T/V (Twin with a Vox EQ) and the D/D (dual-channel Fender Deluxe).

Rig-builder Dave Friedman also modifies several modules, some are adaptations of his Marshall mods (Brown Eye, Hairy Brown Eye, C45).

The amp showed up this afternoon. What fun ... even though the T/D module is a few days behind.

I still don't have the Vox jangle worked out but I'll keep trying.

Still waiting on a THD 212 loaded with Golds and matching tolex.

Welcome to the family. Beautiful amp! Wow - I didn't know they could cover them like that. Very classy looking.

You said you're having trouble getting the jangle out of the VX.

One thing I don't do with my VX is push the bass too much. The bass can get really heavy on this module, especially on channel B. That will definitely kill the chime/jangle. But it will stay pretty bright as long as you don't crank the gain too much. Also I never use as much presence as you have there. Might be better to back off on the presence and bring up the treble while turning your bass down.

Get the module sounding good by keeping the bass neutral, and push up the treble a little. I also lower (not cut) the mids to get that "bounce" or "sag" feel to it. Try this in channel A with low gain and turn the module master up. Sometimes I'll use the bright switch and turn the treble DOWN for a different sound in the highs. Then I'll add presence and density to fine tune it. I never get past 10:00 on the presence and 12:00 on the density it seems.

I'll only use a higher presence and density setting if I'm playing quiet. Which is hardly ever! LOL! These amps are a tinkerers delight.

I'll give your suggestions a try. Thanks!

I don't run the Presence control full open. I was just experimenting with it and that's where it was when I stopped for some pics.

They don't really offer custom coverings. I pretty much twisted Jeff's arm and it extended delivery time.

There's a guy called Anthony, who goes under the name of Salvation Mods, who does custom modules too.

He does mainly single channel Randall mods, but they work in Egnater amps fine and he can modify Egnater modules no problem.

His speciality is high gain stuff if that's your thing (it is mine! )

There's a thread on here about a module he did for Gene http://www.rig-talk.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=26&t=42601
