Anyone have the skinny on these?

https://peavey.com/product/6505-ii-guitar-amplifier-head/

Peavey's classic high-gain legacy continues with the 6505 II. Like the original 6505 head, the 6505 II offers two channels. However, the 6505 II adds separate EQ, Resonance, and Presence controls to each channel, giving you more control and flexibility. The new footswitch provides foot control of channel selection, effects loop, and the newly added ability to select the Crunch feature. Now you can instantly obtain that extra gain in the Rhythm Channel with your foot and never have to take your hand off the guitar. Finally, the Clean Channel has been added, completely redesigned to sound much cleaner, and has one 12AX7 devoted to just the Clean/Crunch.

All 5150 II have had 3 button clean/crunch, effects, and lead footswitches. It’s just a rehash of their 5150 II. Nothing new about it. My 5150 II also has had a dedicated tube for clean and crunch both but it also shares a triode stage for lead.

It’s the exact same as the 5150 II and 6505+. Made in China now (later 6505+ models were Made in China too), detachable power cord, and JJ tubes. They say a transformer change but it’s more or less the same. Old Footswitch was metal, the new one is plastic. Lots of people have had complaints about their amp arriving damaged because they skimped on the packaging materials inside the box.

One additional point, with these as well as the 1992 Originals you can run EL34s if you get tubes with the correct bias.

I guess these have the Invective transformers and supposedly the more reliable traces on parts of the boards, like the new 6505 1992.

The 5150 II/6505+ has been my favorite high gain amp. Glad that they are at least continuing to make them.

The traces were never the issue in the originals from memory. It was those awful ribbon cables. I do agree I believe they have the newer invective transformers.

I just want the logo for the 6505II. I had that stupid peavey oval on my USA and took it off. I don’t think they even allow you to call the parts department to order parts anymore though.

How are the invective?

How are the invective?
Literally a 5150 with a bunch of added features. A buddy grab one and compared to an OG 5150 and in the room through the same cabinets it just didn’t hang. Now that the iconic is out, I’d recommend that if you want something 5150 flavor but different.

Misha Mansour, who designed the Invective with Peavey,
admitted in a Premier Guitar Rig Rundown video,
that he created the Invective to essentially be the power amp for his Axe-FX for live performance.

Was it equalized any different?

I don’t remember the finer details. It’s been too long. Not long after we did a blind test together and turning knobs he sold the invective. Hasn’t owned one since. He gigs a slightly gained up Marshall with a power station now.

I mean he’s used it for the tone on several albums. Most recent one was this and the Zilla ir plugin.

Can you post a song recorded with invective. I’m interested to hear it still
