I have been reading a lot of mixed thought on this on forums and blogs... a lot of people seem to like it but
I'm not sure I will...

Someone said it was like the ESP 42mm Thin U shape on a thread some where.

I had the original PRS REGULAR neck carve ages ago in like 2003 on a PRS custom 24 and after a while thought it blew donkey dick...

The crap was so narrow at the nut it drove me crazy playing down there and I dumped it.

I don't like 1 1/58 nut widths as they are too narrow for me.

PRS Website has the 1 21/32 or something for the width on this. I'm thinking it is like a 1 5/8 for the most part.

Has anyone played this neck carve to see if it is exactly like the original REGULAR neck or had a chance to compare this to pattern thin? The chunkiness of a neck does not bother me it is the narrowness of a neck that gets me.

Thanks.

Yes it's just slightly more narrow than a 1 11/16th. I prefer anything smaller than 11/16th myself so I like the pattern regular a lot. It doesn't feel small though like the Ernie Ball Axis or Luke necks but I think you need to take a trip to GC and try some to see how you like the feel.

One of the best necks I've ever played was the PRS NF3 which is an oil finished maple neck with Pattern Regular, I liked it way more than a satin feel. It just felt like an old pair of sneakers. If the new Custom 24's are anything like that I bet I'd love them.

Thats was the impression I was getting that they are narrower but not "Ernie Nad" narrow...

I had a really nice 2012 prs custom 24 two years ago but I think it was pattern thin.

Totally agree. My NF3 has been my main guitar for awhile now. One of the best necks I've ever played.

The good thing about the Axis neck carve is it's deep, yet narrow. The PRS is NOT as deep.

Pattern Regular - makes no sense to me. I'm old, I know Wide Thin, or Wide Fat!
