New pup recommendation

I'm looking to buy some new pups for my guitar and thought I'd see what you guys recommend. I get the feeling that a lot of people on TGP prefer BKP which is fine with me, but I'd like to keep all possibilities open. I am looking for hand wound pups FYI.

My guitar:
1997 Schecter Hollywood Classic custom shop
I believe the body is ash
Flamed maple top
Birds eye maple neck
Rosewood finger board

Current pups I believe are SD-1 and SD-4 with coil taps.

Current amp is Egnater Renegade.

I play classic rock, hard rock, alternative, blues and occasionally some 80's metal. I love big, beefy tone that's thick and not muddy. I play both rhythm and lead so versatility is a must. Finally, I need pups that sound fantastic when split via coil taps.

Not a bad recommendation (the Motor City Pickups), the Riff Raffs would probably sound pretty killer too, from BKP, and if you really wanna get the lowdown on what BKP's would be most suitable, email Tim Mills at tim@bareknucklepickups.co.uk and ask his opinion.

Funny you should mention that as I did just as you said and because I enjoy and play such a wide variety of music, he recommends the nailbombs as they're BKP's most versatile pup...

I have to admit, I do find myself playing more classic rock and blues lately and I'm worried the nailbombs would be too hot.

If the nailbombs are too hot look at the Holydiver from BK. amazing clarity and cut but not harsh AT ALL.

Definately check out the Wolfetones and MCPs too

There's so many choices. But for thick and articulate, but not too hot, I'd have to agree with the Motor City 2nd Degree Blackbelts. Also the WCR Godwood, BKP Rebel Yell or Wolfetone Timbrewolf.

Marshalhead's may be too vintagey.

look in the clips section for some videos I did on some pickups...there are several different ones lately...

I pitted a Marshallhead against a Suhr SSH and others, and liked the Suhr the best from those...
That was just a bit better...more clarity, more toneful, more girth to the tone...

For what you are looking for, those might be worth a shot.
I'm not sure the Nailbomb is what you are looking for...Painkiller is definitely too hot for what you want...distorts quickly. Warpig definitely too hot for what you want.
sounds like you don't want a metal pickup...more hard rock and such...
Motor city choices are good too...I just tried the Black Iron, but it was a little too low on the output with the A2 magnet for me, but worked well for the guy I sold them to, who doesn't play anywhere near as heavy as I do.
2nd Degree Black belts and Detroiter could be good choices. Solution may be too much output and too bright on top end.

for what you are looking for, I still think the Suhr SSH may be a good choice...

Wow, Nailbombs eh? Interesting, I would have thought of them as being a bit too aggressive for what you're looking for, but maybe the body wood is countering this. Tim knows his biz, so I'm not going to go against his recommendations. If I were in your shoes though, I'd probably focus on the Vintage Hot pups (even though I recommended the Riff Raffs, only because they are pretty amazing pups, but that's in my type of guitars).

The 2nd Degree BB from MCP are highly acclaimed as well - I've not had any experience with them drectly, but I know a lot of people really love them too... Just not sure about their single coil performance and so forth, but email Wade and I'm sure he'll give you the scoop.
