To me anyway.
I'm selling an amp and got something from a guy on CL wanting me to ship it. He sounded legit so I thought it was a go. Then I get an email from him saying payment has been made. I emailed back saying I didn't see any money in my account. He emails me back saying he had spoken to PP and that they see the payment as being made and that they sent me an email.
So in my spam folder, I find an email that looks official from PP and it says the payment is on hold and it will be put in my account when I provide a tracking #.
I've done a lot of PP transactions and have never seen anything like this. So I forwarded the email to PP and also called PP. I gave them the transaction # on the email and they confirmed its a fake.
Did he send this hoping I would be dumb enough to send the amp or was there a virus in the email. I didn't click on anything in the email and I have deleted it. I'm also running virus scans now.
I sent the ass hole an email saying that I would ship the amp tonight and then send him a tracking #. I'm gonna string him along as long as I can.

That one's been around for awhile.

Tell him he needs to call and confirm his mailing address, and give him the number to your local police. That'll learn 'em.

That is one of the oldest scams out. Don't reply to them, delete all the emails.

Keep us posted on the game... glad you didn’t get scammed and hopefully this will be funny.

Do not encourage further contact with these scammers, Bob.

so is the purpose to find an idiot who will ship or plant a virus on my PC to steal my info and hack my accounts?

It was a fake paypal email from the get go. The fake paypal email in your spam account was, as you suspected, fake. Do not reply to it, and delete all emails.

THANK YOU.

Send a box to him the size of an amp head but make sure it has plenty of Feces in it...

Would be nice to scam the scammer, but I doubt he'll send you a real address. Otherwise it would be about time to show up at his doorstep. :gethim:

is there a shipping address to share. I'm sure the police may be interested or someone's cousin Vinnie :gethim:

Agree with scotto.
Find the number to call the local PD. Tell them what went down. Have them pay the guy a visit.

Nothing new. Happened to me last year but I didn't fall for it.

I assume PP will report it. After all its a cyber crime

So i got an email from him Tuesday wanting to know if I shipped the amp. I told him, yes and it would be delivered Wednesday but that the had to sign for it.
Hopefully, this will at least tie up his day.
So I just sent him another email saying that Fedex shows it delivered and I need him to call PP and straighten them out because I still don't have the money.
Hopefully he will reply to me saying he didn't get the amp. then I will send and email back saying I figured out why you didn't get the amp,and I will attach this pic.
