I finally got around to finishing up a song I've been working on and first time doing vocals. I don't consider myself a singer in any stretch of the imagination (LOL) but after years of doing instrumentals I was like "f it, I'm going to at least try". I went out and bought a Rode AT-1 microphone and just started kind of babbling and before I knew it I was writing down lyrics, etc.

Here is what I used for the recording:
Vocals: Rode AT-1
Amp: Fractal Axe-Fx II
Guitar: Gibson Les Paul Classic with 2nd Degree Blackbelts
Bass: USA Fender Jazz

Hope you guys dig it!

Fuck yeah bro. Bravo for going for it. I dig the song. Vocals fit fine.

I like it man, and I'm not just saying that.

You've combined the guitars of Disturbed with the singing voice of Corey Taylor. Great job!

It also kind of reminds me of Winger. Cool song for sure. Keep 'em coming

i think the vocals are a bit loud in the mix but otherwise its a good job man

Thanks for checking it out bro! I appreciate it and always like hearing what other people hear. It is like when I'm working on a song I'm just hearing a certain thing in my head and then when people describe the tones they are hearing it is good feedback. :)

It's funny you say that because I was thinking that the other day. To me I was wondering if my vocals were up a bit in the mix. I kept going back and forth because my original one, the vocals sat back too far. Great feedback for the next one. Thanks for listening man!

I am surprised when I hear something new that I like, good job. Keep going, volume of work is what will get you better and better. You must listen to this - only 2 minutes, it will change your life, at least it did mine! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PbC4gqZGPSY

Awesome!!! I love stuff like that man, thanks for the link.

You know that is the thing. People say "can't" or "not sure people will like that" too much. My friend, who was the one to convince me to go beyond just doing instrumentals, said "think about all of the famous people who are not necessarily great singers, but who's singing fit their songs, genre, etc.". We started talking about Bob Dylan, Johnny Cash, etc. They just wanted to create something.

People should just keep trying with stuff and put themselves out there. You never know who is going to like the songs and even if nobody does, it is awesome creating something that you did yourself. Thanks again bro!

I dig it. Props on doing those vocals. I have a lot of anxiety over recording vocals. Maybe I should just go for it.

You have to a degree inspired me.

Cheers

Do it man!! It is not that bad if you have some good effects on and are alone while recording. When I was doing them, I kept thinking "ok, this is like acting. I have to really get into it and probably will look ridiculous but nobody is here". LOL.

Just had a quick listen through my phone's crappy speaker and it sounds really good. Very slick sounding production and a cool song to boot. Will listen again through better speakers later.

Cool man, thanks! Let me know what you think once you have listened thru better speakers. I tried to find a good balance between speakers in my house, my monitors, in the car, etc.
