Cool music! Dig the vibe and the guitar sound!!

Appreciate it dude!! If I remember right, that is the Axe-Fx II "Cameron" amp. Nice crunch and mid action. :)

Cool man, thanks! Let me know what you think once you have listened thru better speakers. I tried to find a good balance between speakers in my house, my monitors, in the car, etc.
Yep just got a chance to listen again properly and it really is excellent. Very impressive production skills. Everything is clear and the vocals stand out without being too up front. Great use of ambience on the vocals. Love that guitar motif you came up with that cuts in just before the vocals start. And was there some reverb used on the master to tie it all together? It's a really nicely balanced and immersive mix.

Thanks so much man! Means alot especially since I have been trying to get better at mixing. I have read up on it quite a bit over the past few months and really trying to add polish to recordings and read up on tricks, etc. people use to get a good sound.

I have EZMIX2 and it is great! It has some "presets" that you can add to the overall Master and then has a vocal one, For the vocals I tried to find something with a bit of delay and verb and I do add a touch of reverb to the overall mix. Before, I had too much and the whole recording sounded too distant so I try to add a touch.

I have learned a lot about taking out noise. Reaper has a function in there where you can cut noise out of the tracks and really cleans up the sound. I've also been trying to work on controlling low end. It is so true that each instrument needs to sit in the mix so cutting the low end beyond certain frequencies is key. Actually all of the stuff I've leaned is easy but I think all of us spend so much time with the actual playing and putting it down, that we forget about polishing it up at the end.

Thanks again for listening!!!

Finally got a chance to listen to this... .very cool dude. Vocals remind me of Corey Taylor when he is not screaming ;) I can tell you put some serious time into it too. Great recording and cool song! The main riff reminds of something from the Quake 2 soundtrack.

Whoa, that's really good
The song, the playing, the singing are all spot on. FX are great and not overdone. It all fits.
Outstanding work sir
Only suggestion I would make from a production standpoint is try fading the vocal double back a bit in the verses.
Then when the full on double track hits in the chorus, it will add some lift.
Hard to believe this is your first effort at lyrics / singing!

Great job! Vocals sound pretty good to my ear as well even if as others have said, they are a tad loud in the mix. Sounds like you got George Lynch in to play the leads as well which is nod to how good your chops are.

Thanks brah!!! I tell ya man, it is hard getting up the nerve to record vocals when you are not a singer. LOL. I just said "screw it".  My buddy Danny who was our drummer in Bob's Pet Rock was giving me crap the other day and saying "hey man, why didn't you sing lead in the band?" :D

Hey thanks man!! Appreciate the suggestion too, that's a great idea. Tips like that are great and something I never would have even thought about. Thanks for giving it a listen!

Thanks!! You know what is hilarious with what you said about George Lynch? I was actually listening to his stuff with KXM for a few days before that and was definitely trying to play in that vein. That is crazy you noticed that!

My solo playing is kind of all over the place. I've been playing since 85' but still can't read music at all so always kind of go with a feel on stuff. I get caught in a certain box/rut sometimes and try to avoid the same kind of riffs. :)

Thanks again man!

I dig it. Props on doing those vocals. I have a lot of anxiety over recording vocals. Maybe I should just go for it.

You have to a degree inspired me.

Cheers

Do it man!! It is not that bad if you have some good effects on and are alone while recording. When I was doing them, I kept thinking "ok, this is like acting. I have to really get into it and probably will look ridiculous but nobody is here". LOL.

I will give it a try. I have always been self conscious about my singing. I will be alone in the zone and likely lubricated with a little bit of bourbon. Lol.

What did you use for a mic?

Oh cool. I'll be using Reaper when I start recording again. And I have ToonTrack Ezmix but have never really had a chance to explore its potential as yet. I might hit you up for some tips if I can't figure it out. Haha.

Hey, i do the same thing! Some days i feel like Schenker, others like Norum, and now and again i will just go Yngwie and vomit all over the fretboard with useless sloppy speed. When i struggle, i go for a C.C Deville vibe with that tight shrill vibrato. ;)

Yeah, sometimes my guitar playing sounds like one of the Jonas Brothers

Hell yeah, add some alcohol!! :) I picked up a Rode AT-1 kit the other day. Really cool. Comes with a shock mount, pop filter, and the mic, so all you need is a mic stand.

Oh yeah man, absolutely! It is really easy. They usually give you like two knobs (ex. Compressor and Delay, etc.) with each preset so makes it really simple and never gets to be too much.
