I'm not one that can easily tell what kind of amp is being used on a recording. Some of you guys have amazing ears and know the amp from a 5 second clip. I usually suck at pinpointing the tone. However, I'm going out on a limb and gonna say that the new Stryper stuff sounds like a Splawn to me. What do ya'll think?

Watch it be a fAkeFX :D

Boogie Mark V??? ..It sounds like that furman eq or and eq boosting the 800hz

Thought there was a video floating around that they were using Orange now.....

I remember seeing it a few years back, with an EQ pedal.

I actually spoke with Michael Sweet about a year and a half ago. We talked gear and he said he was really excited about Splawn saying he loved how uniquely say in the mix. Said he had a Quick Rod and a Pro Mod.
No clue if he used them on this record.

There's definitely something pushing the midrange into the amp, in kind of a "congested" type of sound.

It doesn't sound like an Orange amp to me, unless they severely lopped off the bottom end before hitting the amp.

don't know what they are using but man that song sounds really cool

Why he singin' the Vocal Melody to Queensryche Take hold of the flame on the verses?

It sounds like they went back to the old tones? (which were really cool)
Did the drummer get there late for the vid??

That is what I was thinking, scooped at the amp, boosted (mids) going in with a SansAmp...

My answer is any rock amp (DSL, Orange, or splawn) being pushed by that Tech 21 sansamp para driver pedal for those honky mids. The Furmans sound better for this use in my opinion but hey, it's God's tone!

How about the more obvious fact that those sansamp really sound horrible at this setting! I don't get how they like that sound at all. Their earlier tones with the Boogies and Furmans was better by far.

No shit....right? When I first heard it a few days ago, I was like "what song is that?" Then it hit me.

My band opened for them twice in the past 2 years. They used Carvin XB100's both times. It's funny because they hid them both times and had Line 6 dummy heads out front.

This. He seems to be an avid Splawn fan. Oz Fox is a local here in Vegas and says Michael is still very much digging his Splawns. Not sure if they were used on the recording or not.
