New Studio Gear - UAD Thunderbolt Satellite

A buddy's new interface refueled my UAD GAS. Not that I don't dig my Slate stuff but I have been interested in UAD for a long time and got this used for a killer price and a bunch of extra plug-in's outside the Classics bundle that comes with. Nice the seller included a Thunderbolt cable as well.

Been poking around the UAD forums and FB groups and have a few other plug-in's in mind. The Shadow Hills Mastering Comp is supposed to be great according to the metal guys on the groups. The SSL-G Bus Comp looks cool too.

Anyone else using the UAD stuff? How do you like it?

Never tried the UAD stuff myself, heard really good things , the need for hardware processing has stopped me so far .
I sold a couple expensive compressors I had and bought into Waves when they started the mega discounts a couple years back.

Let us know what you think of the UAD plugs.
I’m curious.

Yeah will do for sure. I have heard good things about the Waves stuff too, but have not tried it. I have been on the Slate "Everything Bundle" for the last 2 years. I will keep it until I decide what I think on the UAD stuff. A good friend who is a "big time" producer swears by the Waves SSL Bus Comps.

I opted for this Satellite as I got it with the extra plug in's for a great price. Was the cheapest way to dive into the UAD stuff for me without going into an Apollo 8.

Yeah I almost bought from there but I actually got a used one with quite a few good ones added on.

I have one of those Satellites too, an Octo.

There's nothing like taking the load off your computer and having them processed in the satellite instead.

The UAD plugins are also very high quality. I love the preamps in particular.

Looks like you are missing a Neve 1073 in your collection, that would be one of the first things I would get for recording guitars.

Yeah I’m going to grab that for sure. I think I’m going to get the 4 plug in bundle.
