Can't wait for this. Dark roots was just an epic album, listening to it constantly.

Let's see if this thread attracts more action that the Metallica one

Testament rules!
Told the story 100 times but here is 101.
Back in 2003 I bought a guitar from chuck Billy.
He bought it directly from dimebag. It was one of dimes custom guitars that he used in concert.
Chuck told me he bought it for a keepsake.
He shipped it with the guitar strap that dime used. All duct taped up. Haha

Awesome, I've been a huge fan for years. Dark Roots was cool. Was not the best but the lead work was amazing and a few of the songs were really killer.

I do miss the original vocal style but hey they are getting old and either way I am sure it will be a great album.

Since you mentioned Metallica, I believe all the guys in Testament are pretty much the same age as Metallica. Testament still play their older material with accuracy and intensity. And its more demanding than Metallica's music so whats Metallica's excuse ?

Cool story, i remember you telling that some years ago!!!!

Still have that guitar? It be cool to see a pic of it.

Been a fan since day one, they really turned things around with low for me, i was getting into Machine head and Messhuggah, the new down tuned trend at the time. Souls of black was good and all but i was getting bored a bit. Then BOOM, Low hits and hits hard. They became my favorite band again!!!!!

You bet there better than ever, they got there chops in order and Chuck has a mean in tune voice, love the guy. Glad Alex is back in full force too. Though i really loved James Murphy's work he did with them, i just like the guys style a lot.

First Strike Still Deadly was a hell of a remake album too, i was blown away when that hit the stores, o e of my favorites too.

Cant wait for the 28th damn it

Love Testament. Been a fan since The Legacy. Had the honor to open for them on The Gathering tour back in 2000. Wish Skolnick had been with them.

Ooooohhh yeeeeaaaah!!

I dug the most recent anthrax, dark angel, and megadeth CDs.....can't wait for the testament follow up to their last one.

Dark Angel? Do you mean "Time Does Not Heal," or something more recent?

oh I agree about metallica. All i'm saying is if testament is still going in 15yrs then we might be able to compare them to todays metallica.

I won't be comparing the albums because one of them I won't be buying....and I don't mean Testaments   .....Mind you lI am hoping like hell Gene Hoglan tones down the blastbeats on this one. I though some of his drumming almost killed Dark roots

Been listening to Testament since the late 80's!!! They're one of the thrash greats.

There first album was killer, as was new order and practice. Then when Cowboys from hell came out, i was all over that and felt Testaments sound was getting to melodic and softer so i neglected them a little. BUT when LOW hit  , i got right back in and never looked back, every album after that has been stelar.

So my 2 least favorite albums where the ritual and souls of black. I enjoyed them though but not like the rest.

Agreed.

I listened to their early stuff and was really into that but then shifted gears and got into Death, Sepultura Obituary at that point. Dark roots was good stuff so I'm stoked to hear their upcoming album.

On a side note, just bought tickets to slayer, anthrax and death angel  Can't wait! Slayer's stuff after seasons lost most of my interest, but its still slayer, and they always play a bunch of south of heaven, reign in blood, and seasons shit in their sets.

Lol....... We got the same tastes here man, feel the same way about Slayer. Oh and.......... We just bought me and a bunch of friends, tickets for Slayer also. Ha ha. But we rented a limo for the trip round trip. About a two hour drive to Montreal!!!!!!

Hell awaits for sure that night man.........

Forgot to add, i was also way into Death and Sepultura. Arise was killer.

Ok gotta run.

Metallic has their past success to lean on, they wrote better songs than bands like Testament. But right now, Testament fucking slaughters Metallica in a bad way. And Skolnick is just a monster player. I always wished he was in Metallica. Imagine how much better Metallica would be without hearing the same stupid wah drenched out of key turkey fight solo in every song.
