I've been running on stock tubes for a while and wondering if it's worth upgrading the tubes?

I understand the JMP-1 is a hybrid pre-amp so is it even worth bothering with an upgrade?

Also the EL84?

I mainly play high gain AOR/Melodic Rock/Shred and like a good punchy mid. Not too keen on scooped mids etc.

I can only speak directly of the JMP-1

I've tried many (20+) different tubes in mine.
From NOS mullards to the cheapest Chinese.
I'm really pickey when it comes to my sound.
It does make a big difference imho.
One of the tubes is for the OD , one is for the Clean.
I don't remember which side is which.

I like the Ruby 12ax7 Ac5 HG+ for the OD side. Nice harmonics, good saturation , complex yet clear sound, aggressive but not grating.
And the Sovtek 12ax7 LPS for the clean side. Nice chime, the cleanest most open sounding tube I've tried in this amp.
Valve Queen carries both of these.

As for EL 84 I can only recommend the JJs
As a disclaimer I've not tried them with your amp.
