Hey, been on this forum for years just reading but never posted!

Anyone got any advice for tubes to replace in my JMP-1 and EL84? They are the stock tubes from the 90s when it was bough so I'm thinking they need chucked. I understand the hybrid factor of the JMP-1 but it would still be nice to replace the 2 channel tubes. Looking for smooth 80s sounds, preferably as far from fizzy high gain as possible.

Thanks!

Try the JJ 803S in one or even both because it may mask the Diode clipping and give you clearer gain , wider
sweet spot in gain channel , they have a little less gain than the JJ 83s but more useable gain in SOME circuits,
less fuzz, fizz etc.

My H@K Tubeman uses Diode clipping for the higher gain and the 803S really smoothed out the gain a lot.

My MP 1 is already smooth, but may try the JJ 803s there too, has a huge plate so can behave differently because of that, a very audible difference sometimes.

Contact Watford Valves mate.

I've always got my valves from there and found Derek to be extremely helpful.

I've got 2 different valves in my JMP-1.
A low gain for the clean and a cryo for the high gain.
Fantastic pairing and based on his recommendation.
