I understand that the general consensus for the Ecstasy is winged =C= for the poweramp and selected chinese for the preamp. However, I found a quad of NOS Siemens/RFTs from a very reliable source. They are friggin´ expensive though, about twice as much as an already expensive quad of winged =C=s, so I don´t know if it makes sense. I think I read somewhere that Bogner designed the XTC with Siemens EL34s in mind, but ran out of them somewhere in the 90s. Any experience using those in a modern high gain amp like the XTC? Worth the money over the winged =C=s? And do the Siemens really last that long compared to them? I use the amp only at low volumes, so I don´t know if NOS is interesting for me…?

One issue top watch out for, many of the Siemens were only rated at 425V on the screens and have trouble in 500v amps. One reason Bogner used SED EL34's is because they were the only current production tube that could handle 500 volts on the screens.
