We are finally making some headway on recording. This is the first track off the line. I still need to go back and recut the solo- as the scratch track is still in place there. Just wanted to get some thoughts on the mix. Any input is welcome.

Guitar info: Les Paul with Aldrich set on R and Schecter Reaper 6 with BKP Nailbombs on L. My Splawn QuickRod through the Two Notes Captor X with an OwnHammer EVH 412 IR. (Basically mimicking my live rig)

Sounds great man! you can totally tell it's a splawn from the tone!

I'm not exactly an expert in this type of music, but the overall mix seems pretty balanced to me? And everything is recorded very cleanly.

If you're looking for nitpicks, I would say perhaps just the non vocal music tracks could be bussed together with some light compression or something to "glue" the instruments together a bit more, but that could be just my unfamiliarity with the genre.

Definitely preferred this mix >https://soundclick.com/share.cfm?id=14337112

The second mix sounds a bit brighter all around while still having nice punch in the kick drums. Your guitar tone also is brighter with more bite and it sound more expansive probably due to the reverb, it sounds really good. Not sure where your gain is set but I find backing off the gain a little gives the tone more detail and a bit less compression if that's what your'e going for but that Splawn of yours really records well. :2thumbsup:

The guitar solo sounded a bit rushed timing wise and little disjointed and didn't seem to flow with the grind of the tune. I like the song, arrangements and breakdowns. I like how you guys write your songs... you keep things interesting for the listener without going off on tangents that don't fit the general riff and verses of the song structure.

Yep, the guitar solo is still the scratch track. I'll be fixing that in the coming week. It is slightly off time right now.
