A new vid of my Axe-FX II, Matrix GT1000FX, and Marshall 4x12 cabs. Don't mind the mess. :)

Sounds great. I'd like to hear demos of some more amps.

Thanks guys! Hey LP Freak, maybe sometime I'll try to run thru some of the other amps for you. Not sure how good they will sound tweaking on the fly, but there is definitely a difference.

That would be cool. It definately sounds like a cover band dream amp.

Does it have the following: a Mesa Mk IV, Diezel Herbert? Engl Powerball? Would LOVE to hear those. Thanks for the vid. I really enjoyed it.

Thanks man! It does have all of those amps. Over one of the past few firmware updates, Cliff threw in the three channels of the Diezel Herbert.

Yep, that be the one. :) You actually hear both cabs in the clip but the one facing directly in front is the EVH-V30 X pattern cab. Even though I play them in stereo, the EVH-V30 cab is always easier to hear than the other cab.

Thanks for listening!

I gotta say the Axe sounds great. Makes me wanna...honestly, I say this in every single thread. Gotta stop opening these!

Yeah, definitely doesn't help the G.A.S. (Gear Acquisition Syndrome) :)

I like how it sounds thru my cabs but want to try some FRFR options as well. My speakers sound great but I'm limited to just THOSE speakers. With FRFR, I can mess with different cabs, IRs, etc. I just have to find a great sounding FRFR solution.

Very good point! I actually hadn't thought of that...doesn't help w/ GAS :-D.

Thanks for a great post. What made you go with Matrix over, say, Atomic or others?

Are you looking at any specific FRFR solutions?

I'm still playing around with concepts... SS power amp, FRFR monitors, and going full hog into the capabilities of the Axe-II

Well, the thing I liked about the Matrix was that I could use it with regular guitar cabs, monitors, etc. I felt like I could get it now for use with my guitar cabs and decide later if I want to use it with something else.

When I looked at the QSC, JBL, and other "traditional" monitors, there always seemed to be something folks didn't like about them. They were either too harsh, too boomy, etc. I would love to get an RCF NX monitor but they are made in Italy and are $1500 a piece. I considered the Atomic stuff but then heard rumors they were not in business anymore and it confused me. I'm sure they still are but I was like "what the heck?". I knew Tone Merchants had the Matrix so I got a hold of Mark Day and he hooked me up with one.

So in a nutshell, the Matrix was relatively cheap and people seemed to say only great things about it. There was too much confusion and gray area with the others. I'm really hoping to get something in a monitor or cab that let's me take full advantage of the cab sims and IRs.

Not a problem man. :D Good luck with your quest. I know mine never ends. :)

I just tried the v30 bottom-greenback RI top in one of my cabs...
Sounds better than the X pattern I think...
More defined...
The v30 at the bottom gives you nice bottom end and the highs are not as shrill as in the x...
Dave friedman of marsha amps uses this combination!!!
Give it a try and tell us what you think!!!
