I have a JCM800 slant Marshall cabinet (mid 80's) has white label g12t-75s.
Also have a 2023 1960BV straight cab.

Is there going to be a big difference in sound/build quality between the two?
I was thinking about putting the G12t-75's into the straight cab, but was hesitant since it's not an old JCM800 cabinet.
Also would allow me to take advantage of the 4ohm switch.

I would ditch the switch. That's the component that usually fails in those cabs that takes a head with it. Hardwire a normal jack to the speakers with good wire and it will last. Those PC boards are trouble. Besides that, I usually have to gasket the back cover to get a tight seal on Marshall cabs. Once I do that, they are punchier.

On the cabs themselves though, I've never seen much difference in cabs over the years, but I haven't seen a really old or really new cab myself. I can't imagine they would tweak the recipe.

Then I would lose the option for 4ohm correct?

Those were the oversized cabs, right? Wasn't that Marshall's answer to the Mesa Recto cabs?

also there were tons of guys using 1960's with their mesa's....so when they came out I was like this will be killer. I was never able to find one and then I did. Plugged it in and compared to my cheaper avatar.....the avatar shits all over it. I was pretty bummed out actually. I bet the other model with the k100's is awesome though.

Do love the K100s. I'd love to get my hands on a cab full of K100s.

Avatar makes exceptional cabinets. I remember Lugo’s ampfest had one and I liked it a lot. So much that I looked up prices at the time to order two and they’re not budget cabs anymore.

I had those V30MF speakers (aka Hellatone 60Ls) in a Bogner 4x12 for a few years. I quite liked them. Darker than a V30 yes but I didn't find them overly dark by any means. More low end, low mids, but a bit MORE airy presence than stock V30s. But they have much less mids to upper mids compared to stock V30s so that is a factor as well. That oversized cab is contributing to the overly dark sound IMO.

I have the exact same cabs. 80s jcm800 cab with 75s and a 2000s 1960bv cab with 30s. Together they sound insane. I don’t think there is a quality difference. Tbh. I will say the 75s sound muddy in comparison. But not bad. More muffled with a sweet high end.

I have both cabs as well. The switch did fail in the BV just like BeZo mentioned. But my Avatar with t75’s and V30’s smokes them both.

I have an oversized avatar 2 x 12 that sounds amazing with scumback m55's in it
it shits all over the newer [unknown year-2000's ] 1960 with stock 75's in it

I thought those came with K100's which are very dark.
