Love this guitar!
Had been after a shredder for a while, but not a big fan of the Wizard necks.
This thing is suprisingly meaty (about an R9 profile, little bit different though), with a nice wide fretboard from E to E.
Mahogany body gives it even more thump - add in the traditional shredder features such as the Floyd, and this guitar has become my go-to for noodling at home and recording.

Nice!! I'm not a fan of the wizard necks, either, but something close to an R9 with some width to go along... Now that does sound interesting! Very nice!!

Man I wish I could play wizard necks again. My wrists just can't take bar chording on them anymore. Perfect for the weedly deedly needs.

Beautiful looking J custom! I'm sure the hotdog dressed frets sure play great too. hngd!

Congrats! These early J.Customs are fantastic. I have a 2000 RG1880 that is amazing. I was also surprised with the thick necks. The profile back then was called “j custom”, which feels significantly beefier than the prestige and wizard necks. I also much prefer the dot inlays over the vine.

Totally guys, agree with everything you've said.
This thing fits like a glove.
If anything, I might go for a brighter/less mid pushed bridge humbucker, but I'm still very happy with the sound and playability. If it ain't broke, etc... etc...
