I've been lusting after this guitar for quite some time. I've never really actively looked for customs, as the price tag on them is just so high, and my mind could never really justify it when I was so happy with the other LP's in my stable.
May of this year, I stumbled upon a killer deal on a 2005 LPC in Ebony with Gold Hardware. The guitar felt right, the timing was good, and the price was great. Pulled the trigger and haven't looked back.
Believe it or not, that was my first custom. I got my 6th today. (Yup, crazy)
I always told myself if I ever got a custom, it would be a silverburst. I picked up a couple Agiles in the finish in my poorer days, but they didn't quite scratch the itch. I happened to be browsing eBay earlier this week, just to see what was out there. I saw this Custom up for $2800 or best offer. I shot a low offer (as I usually do, just to see what happens). 2 Hours later my phone goes off. The seller accepted my offer.
She showed up today. Couldn't help but stop what I was doing at work to pull it out of the case and admire with a couple fellow guitarist co workers. Immaculate workmanship on this one. I can't find a flaw. Only 2 tiny dents in the finish, both on the sides of the guitar, fine by me. The seller replaced the Original 490/498 with Dimarzio Joe/Mo Joe PAF's and put some nice open gear tuners on it, but included all the original items.
This guitar sings, acoustically. Loud and resonant. The guitar feels alive in your hands. Action is a tad high, but easily corrected. I'm itching to get home and plug it in, play it next to the other LP's and see how it stands. I have a great feeling though.
