I got an early Christmas present today, and I could use some advice on upgrades. The bridge has the large zinc block, and I'd like to upgrade it to a steel block... Problem is, I have no idea what block will fit? I've been told that a USA bridge will fit the guitar, so I'm wondering if replacing the entire bridge is the best option. The pups are Fender CS69's, but they are quite noisy. I'm thinking about a EMG SAV kit, but I'd prefer to leave the passive pups in it.

If this were yours, what would you do to upgrade it?

I don't want to change its appearance. I put a large brass block into '93 EBMM EVH, and it really improved the sustain... I'm thinking I could do the same thing here. I also want to rid the guitar of the noise. It seems shielding the cavities is the standard fix. If I go with EMG's, it will clear the noise, but then there's the hassle with changing the battery.

EMG's and even the noiseless pickups don't retain the true single coil sound.
