Yeah, I'm very lucky to own some really killer guitars...Lampshade1973":1tffjx9o said:Steve you have such an amazing collection...
Thanks man! I've been on a tear lately for sure. This one is definitely the coolest find...Chubtone":34m2v7l7 said:Holy crap Steve!~ Awesome. And Al.... some early Charvel's had 1-5/8" nut widths, my personal favorite.
Yes, that black and yellow Chevron striped Charvel he is playing in the videos is the one in that work order. It is early serialized and I know the guy who owns it. Would be cool to have that one as well!Joe-TX":3qj32pp0 said:Wow! Nice addition to the collection.
There are some YouTube vids of a Viva live show from '83 but this guitar does not make an appearance. There is a black and yellow striped Charvel in it possibly the one from the same sales order.

How wierd is it that Michael Schenker's sister was the in that band?
I just got lucky man. Someone posted a picture of it on another forum and said it was for sale. I posted that I loved it and a couple of months later the owner contacted me at my amp company info email address and offered it to me. We worked out a deal and now it's mine!rottingcorpse":3176g0kg said:What a score! God, I love guitars like that. So jealous.

Dunno what happened to the other two, but as I said above, I know who owns the black/yellow Chevron striped Star...Big Rich":g6av3izw said:Thats amazing dude. congrats
I wonder what happened to the rest of the guitars on that order sheet. You should try and track those down too. That would be so sweet to have the full collection haha
I have a vague recollection of seeing a pic of this and one of the other ones together...IIRC Chuck (Bloodsplatter) posted it years ago.sah5150":jqe0i0q8 said:Dunno what happened to the other two, but as I said above, I know who owns the black/yellow Chevron striped Star...Big Rich":jqe0i0q8 said:Thats amazing dude. congrats

Couple things about this video...boy is it bad, Schenker looks like a late 80s rapper, and those Charvels both sport Rockinger tremolos on them in this video. The burst one looks to have a Bill Lawrence pick up too. Amazing how the video editors NEVER catch the guitar player that is actually soloing while he's soloing. Terrible production too...Joe-TX":34tou6mo said:Wow! Nice addition to the collection.

WAY more than $2K actually, more than double that... Fully documented pre-serialized guitars are incredibly rare. Only 750 ever made and most gone...charvelstrat81":d1kmfjn3 said:AWESOME score steve!I used to own a 82 "shazam" star strathead that i loved!
had a incredible neck!
Those prices back then were average but these days seem like a steal!
I would venture to guess that $450 explorer now cost's $2000 or more
