So, I've been on what seemed like an endless search for the best Floyded guitar for me.
Since the search began, I've owned:
- 3 Suhr Moderns, an S6, and a factory-modded S1 with recessed 510
- 2 Anderson Drop Tops (a classic w/pickguard and a regular w/no guard)
- Hamer Californian
- Hamer Diablo
- E-series Japanese strat w/floyd
- and probably some others...
The latest in the "used to own" trem category was a basterdized Les Paul Custom with Kahler trem.
This got me sold on LP styles. I love the weight, the sound and the look. And, most of all, the scale length.
But the Kahler didn't quite do it for me.
Low and behold, the Tom Anderson Bulldog Locker comes around.
Alas, I could never ever ever afford to have a new one made for me, and never saw them used.
Finally, one pops up, and I'm able to trade one of my Moderns + cash for it.
I feel I can almost safely say that this is the one, folks. Is it an exact LP replica? Not really.. But it has everything else I'm looking for, including a handy danyd D-Tuna and trem locking mechanism for downtuning, etc. This one also has a set of WCR MurKat pickups installed, which I like quite a bit. There supposed to be optimized for a floyd trem. Not sure exactly what that means, but they sound great.
BTW, stellar arched top, and killer finish. I've never really been one for purple, but this is one sexy beast, even more so close up.
Anyone else have one? Played one? Loved it? Hated it? Hate me for having one?
