Saw one of these posted locally on Facebook about a week ago. The first guitar that I bought myself was a black and cream Les Paul so I've been a sucker for black and cream finishes since then. Scored this for $300 with a hard case. It's got several scratches and a few dents, but really nothing major and nothing unexpected from a 13 year old guitar. The Seymour Duncans sound great and was the main reason I bought this guy.

Solid guitar at a great price. I like the look too.

Which Duncans do you know? I have a C1+ that I also bought For $300 - but new.

These "cheap" Schecters are not terrible. Some of them are (some of the neck's just feel terrible), but not all of them are. The SDs are supposed to be a JB and a '59. I played several of my songs earlier with this guitar and was able to really get some great tones. Love this piece of shit.

Nice score at a nice price! Considering the cost of a new hard case you basically paid $125-150 for the actual guitar, lol.

I also like to factor in the pickups, but I guess they were stock so it's not the same as someone replacing some no-names with some SDs. But yeah, great deal all the way around.

Agreed. Even if you planned on replacing them that set would fetch a hundred bucks used on the local level so you still wouldn't be in it that deep.

Right exactly. So I got a hard case and some nice pickups that came attached to a beat up guitar.
In the case? Two extra sets of strings, an instrument cable, and a cheap wall mount. NOT complaining at all about this deal. I just gotta restring it and clean it. It's dusty. I don’t think it's been played or touched in years.

That's pretty much how I look at all my guitar purchases. What features does it have that I want and what does it have that I don't want but can sell to recoup some of the dough.

Cool. My C1+ came with 'Duncan Designed' pups and I promptly replaced them with a Custom Custom I had and a '59. They didn't have the Duncan name on them so maybe yours are actual Duncans?

Yeah, I think those Duncan Designed pickups are indeed different than the "real" SDs.

The early original Blackjacks came stock with the JB/59.

I have considered picking up an OG Blackjack C1 for years. That is back when the Hellraiser and the Blackjack were the only 2 main series they offered.

Yep. For sure.

Hey, love your signature but what does your user name/avatar mean?

Ha, my name is Phil and I usually go by phillyb. But at one point, I belonged to a forum, much like RT (pay it forward camaraderie and a no-bullshit attitude, beef with other forums, etc.) that was my playground. A friend of mine hosted a lot of in-person meets (car forum/install days). Someone who knew of my assholerey made stickers that said phillyb hates me! and brought em to the meet and handed 'em out. I loved the idea and just ran with it. It's my "brand." I've been making stickers for like 15 years and giving them away since then.

I'll be posting a video in the next post with some clean ever-so-slightly driven neck tones which I know is everybody's favorite stuff around here.

I can never keep Schecter's lineup straight. Omen, Diamond, Damien, SLS, Elite, SLS Elite, Blackjack, Hellraiser. What does Hybrid mean in the Schecter lexicon?
I had one of the much-more-recent Blackjacks but got rid of it because I wasn't in love with jamming my left index finger into the huge ass locking nut that accompanied the Floyd Rose. It was a KILLER guitar though and I kinda regret getting rid of it. Even though I scooped the Blackjack in the OP, I keep the C-1s on my radar as well.

The reason I went on the hunt for one of these was actually because I played a Chapman Ghost Fret with the same pickup configuration recently. It put me onto the JB/59 combo as well as the Explorer shape which I found surprisingly comfortable. Apparently not all of the Ghost Frets came with the same SD combo either.

@Techdeth and I had a lesson earlier and I don't practice my sweep arpeggios enough, so he gave me some simple jazz chords to comp as well as the suggestion of connecting the chords with some licks from the scale. So without further adieu, here's the exact opposite of what most would use this guitar for:

Awesome!

Thanks for sharing Phil. And yes, Nick is good people.

No problem, man, thanks. I've had a blast with this guitar and haven't touched my Les Paul or Kaizen since getting it haha. I'll try and post some more clips soon.
