Grabbed up this guy for a song...

The floating bridge is SO much fun!!! A great compliment to my Wildcard #6 and MIJ SoCal... the rosewood fretboard feels great! The Seymours are yanked out (and for sale here) and EMG's are making their way in...

Anyone else have one of these monsters? I feel like George Lynch...

Those are nice!

I don't have one of those and I hope this doesn't make me a bad person since I'm not a fan of breaking the guitars up (kind of joking) but I do have one of those necks. I took off the blue logo and replaced it with a black logo because I wanted a rosewood fretboard. I've got it on a USA Candy Tangerine So-Cal with a mint pickguard.

I love my Dreamsicle too!

Yeah, the rosewood neck is fierce... I love how different these three Charvels are... I might be done with the search... they are all so good, and I'll be putting in lots of hours on the Lava Burst for the foreseeable future...

Very Nice! It looks like you like EMGS as I see in your sig! I love EMGS as well but may I suggest you try a Duncan SH 5 Custom? I'm assuming it comes stock with a SH 4 JB?

Yeah it came stock with a JB...

I've tried to like them, but they just sound too loose or open for me and my playing... I threw in an EMG 81 thinking it would be too shrill but it sounds super sweet in the Lava Burst... it's an Alder body like my Dreamsicle, but the 81 in the Dreamsicle sounds too thin/shrill and the 85 fits it just right...

Could be the ebony fretboard verses the rosewood? Who knows, but I'm loving the 81 in there... which makes a nice contrast to the 85 in the Dreamsicle...

I think the fact the bottom end is too loose for you is because you have a single volume pot which is likely 250k.. that is done so the JB is not too bright. I have always preferred the JB with 500k and a tone knob. Or just a JB alnico II with 500k. Happy medium. The bass is a little looser regardless though but it works with the 500k pot for me. Aldrich is tighter bottom end and prob a better pup for these single vol charvels.

Great guitar as well!

Happy new guitar day. I have that guitar as well. It's one of my favorites.

Thanks for the info, Kapo!

5150: it's fast becoming one of my favorites... the Dreamsicle sort of set the standard for me a few years back, and I had seen the #5 around, but never gave it a lot of thought... I've had my SoCal for a while now and it's so different from the Dreamsicle it got me thinking about others when the #5 popped up locally... SO glad I dived on it... it almost feels like the neck is slightly thinner than the Dreamsicle, but there's a definite difference in feel between the ebony and rosewood fretboards...

Congrats. I've never actually owned a Charvel...need to get off my ass and get one.

^^^^^

I'm quite fond on the MIJ models... the fretwork and craftsmanship seem to be slightly superior to the MIM models... I have one of those too, and they are also great guitars, but the MIJ's are my favorites...

I've not had a MIA model, but I've heard nothing bad about them...

Congrats man. When I started getting Charvels, I couldn't stop lol. They just feel amazing

I know!!!!!!

I'm guessing the Wildcard #7, Primer Scream, has a similar feel to the Dreamsicle because of the ebony fretboard...

There's a semi-local MIA model that is very expensive... wish I had the cash to try her out....
