I posted this over on HCEG, so if you read it over there already, I apologize. I just wanted to share this with my new friends here at Rig Talk as well! :)

After returning the Ibanez I had bought because I wasn't happy with it and picking up an ESP Eclipse II in the meantime, I was looking for one more guitar which I would get to replace the Ibanez once it went back into MFs system. I managed to narrow down my selection to either a used PRS Standard 22 or an EB Music Man Axis Super Sport. I debated for a while and then asked for some input on how the EBMM played, since I already know how the PRS does. Well, I was surprised when it got completely glowing reviews from almost everyone that owned one. So with that kind of praise, I couldn't resist!

I have to say that this is the easiest guitar to play that I have ever picked up. It is so smooth, it's just heaven to play on. The guitar is very very light, maybe 6 lbs or so, and for an old guy like me, light is nice :) I instantly fell in love with it as I played it, and actually I like it MUCH more then even the ESP Eclipse II. When I got the ESP, I loved it more than the Ibanez, and I still do love it. However, my love for this EBMM is insane...I can't even describe how much I like this thing! I believe the neck is actually unfinished, and that may be part of the love. Your hand just slides like its on air up and down the neck.

The pickups sound amazing, clean or distorted. They have great clarity and some punch to them. After hearing them, I think I will keep the neck pickup and replace the bridge with something heavier and with more punch. Other than that, nothing on this guitar needs to be touched.

It has a beautiful grain to the top and the bird's eye maple neck is gorgeous and as I said, feels like a dream. I've never seen a neck like this before, it really took me by surprise.

Ok, no more blabbering on and on, here it is, my new EBMM Axis SuperSport.....

Here's my cat staring at it like it's the enemy :

I like your cat.

The Axis guitars are certainly special, I've had mine for nearly 10 years now, and its still a monster. I'm surprised you don't dig the bridge pup on your guitar. I have the trem-equipped Axis, but I would assume the pups are the same. I've always thought it was one of the more mean, aggressive stock pickups you could have.

Anyway, cool guitar and as you say they are amazingly easy to play!

I'm used to using EMGs as my main pickup from my Eclipse, and they sound mean as hell. It's not that it's a bad pickup, it isn't at all. It is semi-high output and I am really looking for full on balls to the wall output like the Invader :)

Congrats...beautiful! EBMM Axis has been my main guitar for years....they are indeed very special instruments!
