I didn't plan to pull the trigger so quickly, but I picked up a new scratch and dent EVH Wolfgang Special at a substantial discount over the weekend.
It had suffered at partial headstock break in shipping but had been well repaired.
Played it, verified the repair didn't affect anything, and talked them down $400 to account for the repair. I figured worst case scenario I buy a take off neck for about that and have a brand new guitar.
Took it home, set it up, and dang- what a ripping guitar! Super resonant- hit an A chord and it just vibrates in your hand and against your ribcage.
It sounded good and played well at home so I took it to rehearsal last night with my Anderson "just in case" for a live under fire test. Never took the Anderson out of the gig bag. Pickups sounded great (though I may swap out the bridge "just because") and compared to my other guitars (Anderson Drop Top, LP, tele) it's a sawed-off rock shotgun that's surprisingly versatile.
Still have some tweaking to do but I'm pretty impressed and pleased.
Obligatory pics are below. Side note- I don't normally collect guitars as decoration but it seemed appropriate to hang this one given the pic on my home office wall.
