Hey fellas... been excited to get this gear to my place this week... just deciding on the right road case for it... I for some reason REALLY want to go with a 3 space case to make it look as small as possible, just because it makes how much it can do that much more impressive, but I'm probably going to be smart and go with the 4 space so I can put my power conditioner in there with it...
Altogether both these units weigh just under 16 lbs, and just using one side of the power amp I can completely drown out my drummer when practicing NO problem, it's kinda stupid really... considering how tiny the poweramp is....
I swear the absolute BEST tone I have ever had was my old Axe-FX Ultra with a Fryette 2/90/2 poweramp... I gave the Axe-II a shot SEVERAL times, and this isn't a knock against the unit, or anyone that uses it, but that thing is just NOT for me... there is WAY too much to tweak, and so much I just don't even comprehend...
I didn't even scratch the surface of what the Ultra could do when I owned it, I'm not a huge effect guy, and aside from my lead patches, I never use a patch that is more complicated than compressor or drive - amp - delay - reverb - and maybe some other stuff depending on the application.... so for the first time in a VERY long time I made a mature decision and realized that LESS is just absolutely more than enough for my needs...
Axe-FX Standard and Matrix GT800FX Power Amp...
It may sound like complete garbage, but I am getting utterly monstrous tones with this small rig, and it's very sobering to get every sound that I can get out of my HUGE VH-4 rig with tons of rack gear, as I can with this 16lb 3 rack space setup... when I get some time I will make some videos like I did with my VH-4, and will be A/B'ing with my buddies 6505 that I'm borrowing...
Just wanted to post some pics for now... on a side note, the Photobucket iPhone app totally kicks ass, definitely D/L it if you haven't already...
